And we the scrubbish audience really digs it. You were a joy to watch all weekend my friend. You accomplished the nearly impossible, with style. See you at the Atlanta PC.
Congrats to Dave (Spears that is). So glad you could join us in our top 8. Sorry the dream didn't come true... maybe next time. I had a great time this weekend, biggest props to my teammates, we all worked really really freaking hard for this event and I don't really think the we could ever ask for better results. We had the best deck, we were mostly ready for draft (damn Avengers, shoulda listened to Leader on that). Most importantly I had some great opponents all weekend long who were friendly and competitive and you can't really ask for more than that (except good draws in the top 8 I guess).
HEY Dalton!!! Congrats on the Top 8, I really learned a lot about the GLEE decks while you were at Dark Tower for Hobby League, I was the guy with the My Beloved deck. I just want to say thanks from everyone at Dark Tower, we all want to congratulate you, and we hope you come back soon.
Congrats Mike, I had a couple of questions for you on your deck if you would be so kind.
Did your deck have light brigade? In the top 8 coverage it mentioned it but I didn't see it in the decklist.
Was trial by sword better than the Ole that dougherty was running? (in a field plum full of glee rush I was thinking trial wouldn't be as good anymore).
Why no Prison Planet? (maybe it would be good as a finisher on your final init turn?)
finally, Would you make any changes to the deck for the upcoming PCQ season? Your deck is definitely the best version in my eyes but I just have to ask :)
mad props to you MJ for your top 8 with the deck that abuses the blue guys. Had it not been for your sharing of tech on these forums, I wouldn't have felt confident enough to even go to PC Indy.
Even though I did end up scrubbing out, it was still a fun weekend, and I learned a lot. Congratulations once again Michael. :D
Oh, and props to Dave Spears. You made shadow creatures look awesome, as did everyone from realmworx. :)

This is so true. It was a real community this weekend. We slapped and grabbed and supported each other like you cannot imagine... especially with so much money on the line. In between every round I heard "How'd ya do, Stu?" at least 42 times. My reply? "I'm doing bad, but I am having so much fun!" Mad good times, I forgot how great you people are to party with. I'll write down as much as I can remember later today.
The germans were playing Light Brigade, we were not. That's actually the only card I saw all weekend and said "hey, that should really be in our deck".
Trial By Sword is amazing. It's easily the most important pump in the deck. Every game involves people attacking down or up the curve and in that situation it's another Shock Troops (only it lasts for the turn). Ole is a good card, but what turned our GLEE games around was our opponent eventually failing an attack. If your attack pumps are dependent on having 2 of the same cost guy, then you're much more likely to fail an attack.
Prison Planet is also good, but basically to play that card you need to devote 9 cards to it (5 team-ups and 4 PPs). Is it "9 cards good"? No. Plus everyone is running some way of getting rid of it anyway.
I would probably find a way to squeeze in that Light Brigade, and maybe the 2nd Rot Lop (though some of my teammates were playing him).

I can't stress enough how proud I am of all of our Team Realmworx guys. In the face of leaked tech and internal personality conflicts, they were still able to come together in when it mattered and finish everyone in the money. I can't express how happy I am for Dave, for finally earning the respect of his peers and proving that he is a formidable opponent and the "real deal". Hopefully, this is only the beginning of his ultimate success.
Even though I actually finished with my worst record yet, and the format for this PC was suprisingly more boring than Golden Age, I think I had more fun than any of the past Pro Circuits. Even though my play skills didn't come out Day 1, I am so proud of that if nothing else, I (along with my testing partner Richard Wood), did make some major contributions to the evolution of our PC Deck from our little corner of Texas where it's just the two of us to play. Malvolio in the general list, and Fiero in Dave's version were both "Aggie Tech" ideas. I hope I'm giving proper credit when I say that Patrick & Dave deserve mad props for the addition of Evil Star, the blue and pink guy that pulled out so many games for us and turning so many bad situations into good ones.
All of the Team owes Joe Bryan a humongous thank you for the original idea. The So Cal guys definitely owe him dinner, even Realmworx paying for his hotel wasn't enough, and it's unfortunate that he didn't get to make Day 2 with his own creation. However, Joe can say he's the only person ever to design a deck with an Arkham Inmates ever to make a PC Top 8 and I think that's pretty cool. I'm sure it won't be the last time we see Two-Face on Day 3 of a PC thanks to Joe's success.
I'd also like to let Adam Prosak know that I will have my revenge some day and I will not be handing you the game on a silver platter next time thanks to 1-off math errors. Thanks for at least making Day 2 unlike most of the other players who beat me Day 1.
Vidi once again proved he is an amazing limited player. He didn't get any feature match coverage on Day 2 because he started at the lower tables, but anyone who can 2-1 with a deck consisting of 25 characters and 5 plot twist deserves infinite respect. Vidi's deck consisted of about 20 copies of Kang, some splashes, and 5 plot twists. How's that for an on-the-fly strategy?
I enjoyed meeting so many of our members too. gator7870, Dragoonxix, SpideyFriends, rollyted, and everyone else I met and hung out with between rounds, I look forward to seeing you at future events.
The 10K was interesting, and even though I ultimately got screwed by a Round 1 loss (my opponent proceeded to no show for his Round 2 or 3 match, crushing my tiebreaks), and then losing to a random person who Ryan Jones (Thanks Ryan!) loaned our Qward deck to, (I was playing a version of David Frayer's Superman Robots deck) who dropped Round 3 after going 1-2. Oh yeah, I'm also pretty sure you're supposed to discard your card from Birthing Chamber when you have 6 guys out, before you activate another effect (I got a game loss for doing this twice in consecutive turns in Round 9, killing my Day 2 chances). I still had more fun than I did in the PC.
This was my last PC for awhile, I'll be sitting back enjoying things at So Cal and New Orleans from afar, but hopefully I'll finally make Day 2 at PC Hotlanta 2006.
Indeed, Joe Bryan was one of the best stories of the weekend. He beat me with the deck in the 10K, I got great notes for my report next Monday on Metagame. Class act, great guy.

I actually thought alot about this when I tried to come up with something strange to beat it. My deck on Metagame today actually could be an answer, but of course I couldn't tune it right by myself. Seriously, Anti-Green Lanterns and Xallarap with Speedy and Deadeye can beat Leader's deck. I am just not the player to do it.
The biggest problem with AGLs and X is that if you don't get them stunned... you lose board presence. Against a swarm of GLEE... that begins to spiral downward.
We had a similar build that we added to our gauntlet last minute because it looked promising but in practice it just lost more than it won. But... when it won... it won fast.
