I think it sucks, but there's people who are *aparently* able to make it work for them.
To use evasion, when a char w/ evasion of yours is attacked, youmay choose to evade, where you stun your own character, take your damage, and the opponent's attacker readies. The good thing about this, is that the 'evaded' character gets to automatically recover at the end of the turn. So instead of only being able to recover one guy like normal, you can recover all your evaded chars, then recover one more guy.
I'm not an expert on evasion, but it seems to me that it's a sucky mechanic that was the basis for the whole SF team/set. The idea that a good player would just order the attacks in the most effective order to minimize evasion's highlights, just (to me) says that readying your opponent's attackers while stunning one of your own guys isn't the best play, but I don't know :)
Hopefully, someone can teach me a thing or two about it.
Evasion isn't restricted to defenders and when you use the evasion ability your character automatically recovers during the end phase. it comes in handy when you declare an attack against an opponent that activates a ko effect or an effect that would stun anyways. it also helps you maintain field presence and any low-drop evasion defenders can be stunned by their effect to force your opponent to target character that perhaps would not allow so much breakthrough. Or you can evade in response to an opponent playing a savage beat...etc forcing you ropponent to ready and lose the attack bonus. And as for their effectiveness against curve sentinels. the most ideal strategy i've seen is pulling out the marvel knight 6 drop version of spidey on 6 to avoid bastion's wrath then when 7 drop comes out magneto usually gets neutralized as well. if it goes 8 cosmic spidey comes out and his effect is too sick to NOT be able to take the game since by then your evasion characters should still be showing some significant field presence. I run CS and i'v lost to a build like that maybe an average of 3, sometimes 4 games out of 10. Its VERY viable. But that's just my take on it.
One of the best and least utilized uses of Evasion is to direct attacks where you want them. If you have one big character and some smaller evasion characters, your opponent may be forced to attack your lone large character. If that character is then pumped on DEF you are forcing your opponent's hand, making them dump ATK pumps. With Sticky Situation, your opponent may have no ATK options that are viable. And you may quite possibly steal the initiative for an attack. On the following turn, you have the initiative with a full board rather then trading characters with your opponent, giving you control over the attack step. With Last Stand, your opponent may have no shot at all at outpumping you, especially in the late game.
Evasion also allows you to use an on-the-fly Sticky Situation effect. Your opponent pumps to do significant BEL, you evade, they do less damage (and may have to attack someone they didn't want to).
thanos titan ummm new school and glee really aren't too good in golden age right now and i had the balls to play sf at a 10k in chicago a few weeks ago. spiderman made me $2000 so i got no problems with the man.
Spiderman(7) is extremely extremely good. The only problem is making it to 7th turn in a Spiderfriends deck. I remember a couple months ago a Curve Sentinel deck that ran him at 7 that did okay in a 10K. I wish I could find the list for it...
Cronos, Here is the decklist.
Characters
4 Boliver Trask
5 Sentinel Mark III
5 Sentinel Mark II
6 Sentinel Mark V
4 Nimrod
1 Daredevil, The Man Without Fear
4 Bastion
1 Scarlet Spider
4 Spider-Man, The Amazing Spider-Man
2 Spider-Man, Cosmic Spider-Man
Plot Twists
4 Savage Beatdown
4 Reconstruction Program
3 Overload
4 Cover Fire
3 Nasty Surprise
1 Royal Decree
1 World’s Finest
1 Marvel Team-Up
Locations
2 Avalon Space Station
1 Metropolis
I have never played the deck. But I found it. I think it should be revived. Remember this is back in the day where people were scared of Source. Now you can do more variety with the team ups.
Originally posted by Thanos_Titan well good for you jason, you prolly got really lucky and got all good matchups. i still think he sucks because hes on a crap team imo.
If you want to make a statement or instigate an argument i suggest you do it in general chat. If you have a strategy you would like to share please do so. Otherwise don't be so childish.
personally i found spiderfriends ran the best in a clone saga deck with as many spiderman drops as you can find. but in the arena of sentinel i prefer to finish on 7 with juggernaut hitting the back row. I'm curious if anyone has come up with a sucessful build for an unaffiliated deck? I dont mean the mojo swarm with random punks and wildabeests featuring longshot either. i mean a good curve unaffiliated. Is it out there?
