Using a 1/16 rubber backing and the soft fabric top layer. Seems like you'd get exactly what UDE hands out. Tho of course at this site you have to custom size it. (Normal playmats are 14" x 24" approx)
Unfortunatley looks like the smallest order is 250
I actualy work at a screen printing shop and was considering doing these if i could come up with enough of a market. Though the process i would use would be sublimation, which i'm about 95% positive is what the UDE mats are, rather than screen printing, with sublimation i could do any image and it lasts better and at a better cost for small orders, largers orders would probabl come in cheaper silk screening it but your colors are much more restricted unless you find a place that does 4 color process. If anyon who is interested would send me a PM i'll determine if it would be worth doing and a price, though i think i can come in under most of the estimates given. For art though you have to remember copy right infringement.

See, I COULD supply blank mats, and let individuals put thier own art on them, and then you avoid copyright infringement, as the individual is using the image, not the distributer.
This could be a good business veture. I'm excited.
Originally posted by Flashback81 But, if I tell you WHERE, then I be able to corner the market on supplying them.
If I can byu bulk and supply them thrroughout the realms, I could make good money, and help save others money by offering less than retail value.
I didn't get a Business degree and learn nothing ;)
Or maybe I don't want to buy them from YOU, because after what I just read you seem really sketchy to me....so I hope that just because you want to be a prick and not tell any of us the website, that no one else will buy them from you either!!
I have been alking with a friend who works with retail, and can supply thin playmats, measuring at 15" by 25", slightly larger than current UDE playmats.
Most likely, he could provide a basic mat, coming in two different type of colours (solid black, or solid white), where white would work well with imprinting a whole image over the entire mat, and where black would work well with single logo images. Other colours may be available, please post requests/suggestions here (solid colours only)
Price wise, he can only supply them in bulk, so if this is going to work, I am going to be a distributor.
A question first: If I supplied a plain solid colour mat, would YOU want a mat with defied "zones" for cards to be played in? (eg. three long, bordered zones for the three main play areas, and two boardered, card-sized zones for KO'd pile and deck), or would a plain mat be preferrable?
Also, if ANY Realms representatives are reading this, and are interested in custom playmats for upcoing events (Team RealmWorks, I'm talking to you), please get in contact with me, as you coul dbe my "showcase" to get this whole thing going!
*wishes for a playmat with Danger Room or some other X-Men stuff on it*
Honestly, I don't find this good business for you to go after. Even if buy them in bulk, and sell them at $30 each, you wouldn't be making too much of a profit, unless you charged the customers shipping, which would raise the cost of the item for them and drive them away.
I can find all the materials to make these at a local craft store for around ten dollars, they make iron-on paper for most color printers and the iron-ons are as good or better than most "silk screeners" that have locations at malls and booths at fairs.
With the price of color ink I'm thinking I could do individual designs for about 30 bucks (and still have about $10 profit) and they would be truly custom as no two would be the same unless specifically asked to have them that way for teams and such. Even then each player could have their own name or logo on the mat.
