I just hope they bring out more smaller tournaments like 10K's that also have golden or other formats to compensate for this.
Also, San Fransisco!! WTF!!!!! No love for us on the east coast since they're giving 2 PC's the California in 2006. I would have like to seen it land in someplace like Baltimore or Philly so people on the east don't have to travel as far. We better get a bunch of 10K's then!!
Exactly, the only reason I am not at the PC is because it is in California and I live in New York.
Originally posted by stubarnes It seems to me to be another in a long line of "We listen to our players" nods. Many of the newer players have been concerned that they are left out, that they are too far behind, that the newer cards should be just as powerful as the legacy stuff, etc.
That's just what it seems like to me.
I agree, the only reason Golden doesn't appeal to me is the need to own so many Origins support (Plot Twist and Location)cards.
The Modern age is split between the 2 companies (Marvel or DC). So this marries the 2 companies without requiring a late coming player to bankroll Origins.
I don't think you really get to complain about where the PCs are as long as they are having them on the same Continent as you. Maybe shed a tear for those poor overseas players who got all their raised up hopes dashed agains the rocks of San Fransisco bay!

PC NY, Altanta, Indy and a healthy smattering of eastern USA/Canada 10Ks...quit yer whining. Maybe some of us in the Western part of the continent would like to be able to drive to a PC. Plus San Fransisco is cool, cool goes a long ways. Wouldn't have minded an overseas PC though. I actually like to travel when I take my hard earned vaction time.
More importantly, in what ways is taking out the Origins brothers going to affect the Metagame. I'm really excited about what new decks we will see once Teen Titans and Doom are not a threat. Will we see more combo decks when there are no KaBooms, Foiled, HABs etc? More Rush without Flame Trap or Total Anarchy? Will rush/beat decks perform as well without Savage Beatdown, Megablast, or Flying Kick?
On a different topic, when is the 2006 10K schedule going to be released?
I remember that a lot of people questioned why there wasn't a 'combined' Modern Age.
Silver Age IS the combined Modern Age.
I think eventually they could turn the Modern Age into a special side event, with Golden and Silver being the main focus of sets ... Modern Age was sort of a way to get to Silver Age in some ways ... because by designing sets to function together for four Modern Age formats you can then combine them into a Silver Age format.
One thing I'm glad about?
If you build a deck for the Modern Era ... it won't become useless after 3 months ... you can integrate it into the Silver Age format and tweak it from there. Not to mention that if you built a Marvel Modern deck using Avengers/X-Men ... it could be put into the Silver Age format, and stay there for an extra year [with tweaks to incorporate cards outside the set in both].
Every Silver Age would rotate out 4 sets and rotate in 4 new ones. Every Modern Age is 2 new sets. Every Golden Age adds 4 new sets.
It would be nice to have more tournaments available [something between the Hobby League and PCQ level or between PCQ and 10K] where you can play in environments that aren't the current 'standard' for the Pro Circuit.

Touche` I would have rather seen a PC in Europe than a second one in California.

If you want west coast and cool, you go VEGAS!!! That would be much better than San Fran, and cheaper to go to.
What should be done is replace the busted Modern Age with Silver Age. Golden Age is by far my favorite format and I really am not looking forward to only playing it 3 months out of the year.

I'm all for Vegas as well. I'm hoping there's a Vegas 10K so I have an excuse there too.
Both are much better destinations than Atlanta or Indianpolis, IMO.
geez, the same arguments happened when they announced modern age.
golden age is still the defualt format, it is the basis for almost all 10K's and casual hobby league play, and it is a major priority for UDE when designing sets.
if you are inthe big leagues and a pro player then you should be good enough to handle a revolving card pool.
