Agree ... even Aaron had a 10-0 record in Day1 and I was assuming that he could go all the way to the top 8 but Day2 was bad for him. Anyone here has his Avengers Reservist desklist ?
You also have to consider that Common Enemy is almost an auto-loss for Avengers. Unless they can do something about 4-drop Doom and all of the mystical paralyzing and reigning of terror, they're going to have a very hard time winning.
As previously posted, CE isn't an autoloss for Avengers, it's just not a particularly favourable match up.
If Avengers get odd initiative sometimes Wonderman and Hercules are just too big to contend with and the Avengers can pump their way to victory.
I'd say it's about 65-35 in CE's favour.
Definitely not autoloss.

Chaos Magic + Quicksilver on four with even Init against CE? Put in copies of War of Attrition? Not sure what the answer is. Chaos Magic and War of Attrition tend to be less useful cards against decks like CS and Squadron, maybe more useful against control decks.

There are lots of things you could put in (I'm partial to NTZ on 4 calling Reign, as CE has no other decent way of dealing with Panther). The problem is, so much of AR's strength came from its pure combat focus that watering it down may do more harm than good.
4 x Rick Jones
3 x Beast
4 x Black Widow
4 x Black Knight
4 x Quicksilver
4 x Black Panther
4 x Warbird
4 x Hawkeye
4 x She-Hulk
4 x Wonder Man
3 x Hercules
4 x Savage Beatdown
4 x Heroes in Reserve
4 x Call Down the Lightning
3 x System Failure
Ultimately squadron was just in too big in numbers for avengers to stand a chance. With AV hiding their panther SS was able to go for massive damage early on. By turn four squadron would already have you down to 20 life or less. A couple burns with archer and they were just too far down to come back.
Avengers never even got to see Wonderman, the one 10-0 deck did so well was mainly because of system failure. Without running 3 of those he would have been toast.
Ultimately though avengers was just teched against, thats how they lost. System failures in some decks and CE was a genius choice to stop it. Squad and avengers did their job by taking out CS... then CE did their job by taking those two out with reigns and doom. Sentinels and titans did about average, but thats about all they could do.
"Avengers are good. The people just can't draft. Freakin 0-9, the hell? Jacob did well though, would've cracked top 8 if he won the last 2."
am kinda new to the system but have played tcg's a lot in the past but was wondering on the term draft ....
and its relivance in upper level tournaments
