You know, I might try and do that in the summer. As long as you guys lay on some deepfried Mars bars ;)

Tell me something good. Let's show them we are men of parts.
Something good? The Tier None Tourney, of course! Is there anything better?
Something else good, you say? How about a record turn-out for the official vsrealms tourney, with pros and scrubs mingling together in glorious harmony. One of my teammates beat TJ with a jankified CS deck, how awesome is that?
Something even better, you ask for? Well, what about Jeff Donais poking his head in the spoiler leak thread with a "Leaks make Hulk mad. If there are leaks, Hulk will crush them quickly." Does it get any better than that? Seriously, high quality humor there.
There's always good on the realms, you just have to look closely to find it sometimes. :)
that's ok, I gave as good as I got. But I did smoke you 2-0 in a total of 10 turns Prof, so I think that counts for something...oh wait, no, it doesn't count for anything :( . Good luck against rkelly.
I don't care what you are, as long as you keep the postive vibes going. You are absolutely correct, there is some really cool stuff to be found on this website, and it the game at large. It is a wonderful time to be a cardflipper.
as before its from shakespeare in love. heres my answer.
the line is spoken by Richard Burbage. he played the main character in some of shakespeare's plays. his father constructed The Theater and later The Curtain Theater. in this monologe he argues that the 3 parts of making theater (the theater itself (The Curtain that was his dads), the playwrite and play(shakespeare), and the actor (himself)) are just as prevolent as the others.
as for relating the quote to the vs community, im not sure what you want but here it goes:
we get the characters and cards we play with come from liturature of our day (comics) and they all have there own uses in the decks (or proxies) that we use them in.
also, each type of vs player has there roll in the game, from hobby leaguers to pros, even the collectors make the game better for us all.
Stu, when you refer to thie historical conditions of SiL are you referring to the conditions in 1998 when the movie was released, or the conditions in London in 1593, when the movie took place?

As long as we're (read: I'm) crushing the vibe, what about jests as a whole? Should we not make fun of other people? I'm sorry, but I just can't believe that. After all, humility and humor are related, and being humble is not a bad thing.
The comments about haters on a whole just seem...off. I don't think that many people get very angry at a website, and, if they do, they shouldn't. If you haven't noticed, once Jeff made his announcement there was about 10 posts of purely jokes BOTH before AND after in the spoiler thread.
Anyone who honestly reads a post from BillyZ and gets very upset has emotional problems. It's a random thing typed up by a random person, if you can't enjoy it why do you even pay attention to it?
I find it odd that people say "it's so much different in real life, because people aren't as mean" and then, Hell, look at CFB's post, the "smack talk is just in fun". You don't think these two are related? Maybe you just don't take things as sarcastically or humorous as intended?
Hell, do you think I'm having fun throwing all this #### out here? #### yeah! And if you read this post and say something like, "You're so mean! You clearly are trying to belittle other people due to your low self-esteem!" then maybe you shouldn't read so deeply into what other people say.
And, honestly, now I kinda expect someone to respond with that exact statement. You know what? It'll be a joke.
This thread's about trying to find things to enjoy, but I guess I just don't get it. Why can't you just enjoy it all?
As per Watchman, "Once you figure out what a joke everything is, being the comedian's the only thing that makes sense."
I think a lot of the hate we get on here comes from misunderstanding. So much of communicating is more than just the words. It's hard to convey sarcasm over the internet, cause you can't use tone and facial expressions, and you have to be careful when you're joking, cause you never know how people will take it. I run into this problem all the time. My philosophy is, have fun, but always err on the side of caution.
I've got no problem with forum attitude as long as it's not "just to be cool". Veterans like Mr. Zonos and Biz98 are consistant and their posts contain no real venom. It's the mindless hate-barnes that piss me off. I like a bit of spice, makes things interesting. Yin and Yang.
There is plenty of hate in the face to face game. I am fairly new to CCG's. Had to learn a ton. The owner of the main store in my area has been GREAT! Very cool. Most of the players I was playing against were very cool. Only one guy I really disliked. He was trying to trade rip every new player that walked in the door. Problem is most new players don't know what is a good card and what isn't. Everyone else was fine. Is that because they would get an easy win playing the new guy? Now, I am thinking quite possibly. Recently, I am getting better and better at the game. Played in a draft, one guy I thought was decent turned into a total @ss while playing me. He was complaining that I was taking too long to play. Never received a warning from the head ref. We made it to turn 7. Which was longer than three other matches lasted. Then, in his next match, the same @sshole was warned for taking too long in his play. Another instance, I was playing an expert who hadn't played in a while. He declared his attack and passed on additional effects when I asked him. I stated that I pass as well. I take nothing and you get stunned. (He forgot about some + def I had). He then says Ok, I will use flying kick then. This expert thinks this is OK! I don't think so! That is cheating in my book. But, I am just the new guy...who am I to say that someone else played wrong. Just becuase you are going to lose...don't turn into an @sshole!
just play your game, man. The thing about guys like that is that at the end of the day there is no question as to who is the ash-hole and who isn't. There is alot to be said about a player that maintains his honor in a crowd like that. Don't let the misplays and shady ways of others make you bitter.
