Alright folks, this is getting out of hand again. Marvel Comics discussion not directly related to VS goes here.
Since Spider-Man's new costume is supposedly a product of his place in the upcoming Marvel Civil War, people's acceptance of the new costume will depend entirely on how well received that storyline is.
Remember folks, permanent changes do happen in comics (you don't see Batman's yellow oval around much anymore, do you?), but they need to have an almost universally accepted justification to become permanent.
Well, all I can say is that I am glad I have stopped buying Spiderman, because every decision that has been made about him in the past ten years has just made me sadly shake my head.
he current story is AMAZING (pun intended) and a new costume is a natural byproduct of the current crossover anyway (evolve or die)
if you arent buying it, get it, part 12 of 12 comes out next week
With peter david on one book and JMS on amazing, two of the best writers ANYWHERE have brought spiderman back. The costume would probably be better in red and blue but it is a gift from stark and look what he wears

Seriously getting mad because a character looks different, Wow how bad are you attached to a fictional character?
Actually people are getting upset with how stories are being written and not on how they look. The way he looks with that costume is just a byproduct of some people's disgust with the company atm. I'm a COMIC fan. I don't choose sides between DC or Marvel but Marvel is making it hard for me to buy books from them. Some people are attached to these characters because they grew up with them or see them as inspiration. Nothign wrong with it. It's just the same for someone that watches a TV show addictivly. Nothing wrong with it.
Not that anything said here is going to make a dent with Marvel but if they had at least stuck with the blue/red/black color scheme it might have been a less drastic change and been more palatable to the comic veterans.

Actually i think drastic is exactly what they were looking for.
I love in this thread how so many people who have stopped reading spiderman are the ones saying that the current story is bad, or the current design is bad, or they are ruining the character. How do they know if they aren't reading the books? As someone who reads the books allow me to educate you on the current condition of my favorite wall crawler.
Amazing: Personally Stracynski's work in amazing is unparalleled. In the first few story lines Romita's artwork perfectly matched stracynski's vision and was just awesome to read through. lately the stories have been just good and not outstanding as they were before. My personal opinion is that Marvel was forcing a few stories onto Stracynski so that spidey's progression would follow a bit more closely with New Avengers. Once we get past the other, expect stracynski to spin gold once more.
Marvel Knights Spidey: This book has just been a roller coaster of great ideas. I love the stories, the art is decent. The takes this book has had on some classic spidey villans has been really interesting. Hope they keep up the good work after the other.
Spectacular Spidey: Glad its gone...for whatever reason books with this name are driven by fate to suck.
Friendly Neighborhood Spidey: We haven't see enough of it yet to know since it just started up with the other. however, anything that replace spectacular can't be all bad.
Ultimate Spiderman: this is just awesome all over. As long as you are willing to forget everything you know about spidey this book is the best. if you get hung up on how "Its not MY spiderman" you will be instantly transformed into a little german girl having a hissy fit and we will all laugh at you.
i dont i the way the suit looks but i dont like the choice of colors since it is a crossover with iron man then i can understand. But i think they should have gone with color of a spider like brown and black.
Spiderman is probably the most messed with superhero, costume wise. They even had to add silver for the movie. However, this new outfit.....I don't know. At least it looks to be a temporary thing. I like the multiple arms though this time around.
