Originally posted by stubarnes 6. Pro Team Edgeworld. These guys tickled me pink. They won the 10K, they were one card away from the final, Dustin made money in his first PC? With only four players and some janky stall deck? Off the radar and into your face. With a very sharp hatchet raised high above the head. Wesssssayyyyyyde!!!
Hehe... easy on the "pro" part... we know how that designation has a little negativity surrounding it.
It's funny because Metagame kept saying that Patrick was teamless yet he went to the San Fran 10k and the LA 10k with the same guys. I guess we need a fancy team name to get noticed.
Again... have to give props to Max Protection. The owner had faith that our little "non-team" was good enough for them and has been sponsoring them since the San Fran 10k... thanks Pat Kwan!
Originally posted by Dalton Best part of PC Atlanta was seeing someone wearing an FTN shirt carrying the big trophy. Only 1 FTN in the top 8 was disappointing when 3 of us were so close, but atleast Vidi made up for it by winning the whole thing.
My favorite game though was against TJ (both of us sitting at 4-3 I think). Squadron mirror, he rolls a 5 on a 6-sided die only to have me drop the 6. We both miss 1, he hits Melissa into me for 9 on 2. On 3 I hit Speed Demon w/ a Jet, he hits Lady Lark who double power ups and drops another pump on Melissa after Speedy and Lark trade (45-29 his lead after 3). On 4 he drops archer and I drop Hawkeye and the board gets stunned, I'm now at 18 to his 36 (I keep Speed Demon, he keeps Archer). I drop Whizzer and he thinks about who to Enemy for and decides on Feral. Speed Demon twice stuns a Potion'ed Archer and then Whizzer goes to the face for 36 w/ triple pump to put TJ at -10. 60 damage in 3 turns after missing 1 and 2. Feral can't swing back hard enough for the win.
best of pc atlanta was sitting in the lobby waiting for aqualad to show up for some draft practice after a long day 1. he pulled in right behind us, but took him and the peeps he was with like 10 minutes to get to the door. He shows up, soaking wet, wearing only his boxers and carrying his clothes....he was dared for $20 bucks to jump naked into the pool and those who were at ATL know, it wsa kinda cold at night....so we run into the elavator as security is approaching...get up to Kyle Dembenski's room, and no one answers....and we find out we went to the wrong Amerisuites....Tim had to hurriedly put on his clothes, still soaking, and freezing no doubt and we had to run out of the hotel....that was, by far the best....

Sweet plug for MAX PROTECTION.... oh did I plug again lol..... Eric I thought we were the Short Bussers lmao.... oh no that's just how most of us on the team play.
The best part of PC was finally meeting people. Like STU and getting my ass handed to me with his wacky deck before the PC.
And then getting to watch his feature match. That was awesome. Even though I managed to go 7-3 and Stu didnt win anymore games after that he still had more fun than anyone. Thanks for the positive haven througout my rough day two dude.
Also I got to spend time between rounds of day two chatting with some really cool people. A couple of guys from germany and spain and a couple of great players like Jason H were not above having a real converstation.
I missed the money but really the friends I meet at these things are way more valuable.
I know the euros have a bad reputation for some reason but I think they are great guys. They are great players and have the right perspective. If nothing else you have to admire their game and dedication to fly as far as they do They may not be as 'friendly' as americans but that is just cultural. I cant tell you how many 'freindly' americans I played who turned around and became pricks when things started to not go their way in a game.

Just when I thought Batow couldn't be any cooler, I read a story like this.
Best of Atlanta. Hm. My list could be foever long, but I'll just pick a few:
- Watching Shane smasg through the top 8. I sat railside in the feature match are and didn't move for nothing. I think I was more nervous than Shane was the whole weekend. Watching him do so well with the deck that as a team we perfected made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I wouldn't trade that for anything.
- Meeting more cool people that I didn't get to in LA. Also, being able to see the WV guys and the rest of their team was great. While a lot of people may have animosity toward the UBER-team, I enjoy hanging out with all of them. And next time, I'll have the Von Roehm for you to sign, Matt. :p
- Shane had already mentioned this, but Tim Batow jumping into the pool naked on the 30 degree atlanta night was classic.
- And finally, ending up in Alabama on the trip from Atlanta to ORLANDO. Man. Bad beats. Only 3 hrs out of the way though. Sheesh are we dumb or what.
