Originally posted by Anerythristic25 Shadman that isn't bad from 25 to 15 and it's is going back up again. My store was wierd the game fell into a black hole , and it was established in the store since the beginning. This set though to stay on topic might be the first Vs. I buy since Green Lantern , I think it looks good. Even if I can't find a game.
The game must still have some sort of appeal because both Craxton and yourself have posted "I'm quitting" missives within the past few months right? Yet, you guys are still posting and following the previews.
Sales of the last three sets have been above projections for UDE.
It sucks that your area lost its players. Mine never had any. Outside of tourneys, online is where I have to play.
VS may or may not be on any kind of decline, but I disagree strongly about the previews.
I have been more excited about these previews than any previews of any previous set.
A rediculous 3 drops, with a drawback so bad that he's got to be insane.
A 7 drop that finally gives the Ally mechanic a way to get over the hump.
An ongoing plot twist that may or not force many of us to put back in our breaking grounds to our GLoK decks (or up the number we currently play). Plus the twist is flashy as an alternate win condition. Do you guys even know the Shane Wiggans team name! They have gotta be going nuts.
A location that readies everybody that used their abilities before combat. I impregnated my pants when I saw that card. Like playing guys that exhaust to do something? I do. I'd like it twice.
Mock(yeah)ing(yeah)bird(yeah) giving us a very interesting way to look past uniqueness.
A plot twist that gives us a RESOURCE POINT!@!@#
There are only two preview cards that have excited me more than these do:
Dr. Light 3-drop
Enemy of my Enemy
This set may be crap, but these previews are platinum hits.
My area is also the strongest it has ever been. Double digit numbers every week, the SP we go to is also constantly rising, and will likely hit the 50 person mark this time...
Hey Dragon , I didn't quit for not liking the game. I quit brcause of time constraints and other issues. I like Vs. it's a good game. I think you can consider yourself done with a game when you stop buying new product put most of your cards away. Trade your extra rares and so on. I did keep my favorite decks. That is neither here nor there though.
The Shadowpact rares are exceptional. Lex Luthor is impressive in a combo sort of way, and the Rock of Eternity means there's finally a good JSA card. The Dr. Fate stuff is neat.
They're being stupidly secretive [1], of course, but that was expected.
[1] Assuming of course a lot of the top players don't have the spoiler. Which they probably do. Call me cynical.
Originally posted by Batshido The fact that it is most likely the only dedicated GK legacy in the set.
That, and it Blows. I hope I'm proven wrong, but it's unlikely at this point.
(a) They mentioned in the Penguin article about a location search for Arkham. Unless that's a dual affil character like Poison Ivy ... that's a second dedicated card for Arkham. If AI gets 2 ... Gotham may as well.
(b) It's better than Detective Work 99.99% of the time [you have to discard, but it works outside of GK ... and you can play it from hand and still get the card draw.]
(c) This is the team with Alfred on it. You can pack a single copy to and go grab it with Alfred [who conveniently gives you a character to pitch to it if need be] when your opponent goes for Null Time Zone ... or perhaps some other 1-cost PT you want to negate [but don't want to waste a fizzle on ... not to mention you get an extra draw that you wouldn't off a fizzle]
Is it great? No.
But with Alfred, it's useful enough to include in the toolbox.
And stuff that can negate ongoings seems pretty useful... like Banished.
Dedicated legacy is overrated. Cards like this where you can get a bonus for using it on legacy teams is the way the new sets should go so that cards are useful in both Limited and Constructed formats (like Dual Affiliations).

And I completely appreciate that. It just seems like GK got screwed on this one. This card is only marginally more useful for Gotham than it is for, say, Titans or The Brotherhood, for god's sake. Maybe even less so, since those decks have specific cards that it would stop that might help their matchups (Null Time Zone and Unmasked).
You can say all you want about limited playability, but when it comes down to it I'm going to be completely unreasonable on points like this. I am a fanboi at heart. ;)
Here's to hoping there are cool Dual Affiliated GK's in the JSA. :)
