The set basically says "If you under-drop, who cares?" Rann and Thanigar were incredible. Every Flight I played, I had a Detective Chimp (3) And I never got to use it :(
My deck was nutty. I had the powerful Hourman (4) and Ragman (5). Ragman makes up for himself by being crappy way before. Now he's incredible.
Hourman (5) is freakin hard to get past. I had that +4/-4 pump though so it was easy. Power Girl is the bomb. You MUST play that as your 6 drop if you plan to go to 7. Shadowpact is nutty as hell. I had Conclave that basically won the game for me many times.
3-1, lost the only game I didn't take evens on. I pulled a 3-6 Earth-2 curve, and filled in the gaps with some Shadowpact and 5-Drop Freeze. 7-Drop Joker was spicy enough to make it into the deck, although Black Adam was the only guy to make it on the field. Rose Psychic is soooo good. T-Spheres too...it's a permanent Turnabout. Great set, and I can't wait to see a Secret Six Victorious deck make Day 3 in San Francisco.
Love the set - and got the playmat! All is right with the world. :cheeky:
Came in 3rd going 3-1 in Sealed. Played a Villians United / Shadowpact deck. I like the synergy. Ragman (5-drop) (I affectionatly call him Rags) is good stuff. The 6-Drop Bad Witch was pretty good to me. I liked Detective Chimp (1-drop!). That little joker is a team-up on a stick.
Got 2nd in an 8-Man Draft. The draft was leaning me towards Villians United, which was just fine with me after my Sealed performanc with the same type of deck.
Overall a good day and a nice set. Thanks for breaking a few rules with this one UDE!
ya i too went 4-0 but got third cause of tie breakers sigh

dont forgewt teh boobs the artists went out of controls on the women's chest size. Which there is nothing wrong with that
It started out great with everyone on my team getting a door prize, except one person whose packs had Alt Art Flash and Foil Conjuration...so yeah. I got a shirt as a door prize. Good start but it gets much better.
First pod my deck was borken. It was S-Pact/C-Mates/VU but I had 3 TU's, including 2 Safe Houses so it worked out. I had all the artifacts, and the location to transfer them, and a great curve to go along with it.
My only loss came to not teaming up with C-Mates before Sage was KO'd, that would have allowed me to double Safehouse every turn...I lost by like 2 end. My mistake oh well. I finished 4-1 in ... 6th place. Top 5 get playmats. But first place got a mat as a door prize, so I finished just in the money so to speak.
Then I did a 16 man, got another great nearly mono-JSA deck, with Spheres and the Location to transfer them. Dr. O for 13/13 is nutty. My only loss that pod came to just missing my curve game one. Finished 3-1, in 5th.
So overall I went 7-2. I got the shirt, playmat, 2 Supes, 1 D Fate, and 12 packs. Which was just enough to do a four man...man I love SP's.
I went 8-0 for the day (two flights). My decks were pretty horrid (aside from a good VU early curve with a VU-Finishing Move in my second deck, and a 5-drop Omac Robot in both my decks), but I was able to hit my complete curve nearly every game. I missed my one and two drops rather frequently, occasionally played a 2 drop on turn 3, and one game I missed my four but under-dropped Ahmed Ssahadfaa. I never completely whiffed a important drop - random boosts definately help to fill in the curves.
I opened up nothing valuable in my packs. I seriously got about eight 8-drops in all my product (22 packs), and four of that new Checkmate 'Foiled' card. Im still okay with winning two playmats though, as I should be able to pick up some tins and t-shirts later on.

1 Game, my opponent's 6 Drop attacked my Roy Harper <> Arsenal. I used Brothers in Arms to give him +6 ATK and Shot his 7 Drop, stunned back his 6 Drop, and had a hidden Dr. Fate (6) and a Superman ready to bash his face in.
That Roy Harper can only shoot attackers - not QUITE as good as the DOR Arsenal. Superman and Dr Fate? Did your game go to turn 8? None of my games got to turn 8 (two ended on turn 6 however).
Got a playmat as a door prize early, so the day was no stress for me. I already had what i came for.
The shirt? Man, that is one ass ugly piece of cloth. Hate it. Ghost Rider and GL still kick it's behind soundly.
And the set? I had decent JSA characters mostly, but the plot in this set are just plain horrible. I went 3-2. Endued up with the mat and 8 packs total, so thats not a bad way to spend $25.
I like a lot fo the art in this set, but some of it is just bland. None of it is horrible or anything, but some of it is just mediocre.
My vote for MVP cards of the day?
Power Girl! Wow, she is THE 6 drop of choice indeed. Art is nice, but her actual playability is off the scale.
Talia! The 5 drop! Insane effect. Especially if you have the location that lets you discard a card to gain 2 endurance. that says you get to play a 2 drop for free AND gain 2 endurance. Wowzers. And her art is delicious.
Best foil is the 4 drop Shadowpact... Witchfire or something like that. She is an 8/6 I think... but her art is just stunning.
9 players showed up for our sneak peek: 8 portuguese and 1 french (on vacation here).
I was 3-2 before the Top-4.
I finished 2nd after the Top-4, losing to the french 0-2 in the final.
He received the deck box and I received a Dr Fate, Lord of Order EA.
Best ot the batch: Mr Freeze, Power Girl, The Science Spire, Mourn fot the Lost and Black Adam - Lord of Kahndaq (I could only play him 1 time but he won me that game!).
Day 2 of Sneak Peaks. All new day. We were a bit lighter in players today (combo of bad things including the main trainline to the shop being out of commision, rain, and always less for DC sets) so only played a 3 round sneak peak and then a draft. I went 3-0, and 2-1.
To people who think thsi set is bad for limited you are worng. It is tougher, but very balanced, and I like it a lot.
To anyone who thinks JSA is bad, they are nuts in limited, sealed or draft because they pack 3 themes: 1) Attack up curve, 2) Earth 2, 3) Ally/Power up with identities/search etc. This is very powerful.
Finally, Checkmate are the Hellfire Club/X-statix of this set. Tough pull off, but if you are the only 1 drafting them and get the goods they are nuts.
One thing on prize support. I won a playmat as a door prize, which is cool, but then when I got third all I got were some packs. I don't expect a bunch of prizes and like the idea that they are spread around, but I really do like the shirts.
Is there any way we can guarantee a shirt to the top 4 (or top 8) and just make the rule say nobody can win more than either one playmat or one deckbox in addition to it? So the most you could win is: packs, shirt, and playmat OR deckbox. I'm guessing these mass produced shirts aren't that expensive to make.

OMG. you are freakane lucky man. you are only suppose to get one, the TO should have not given you the second one even if you won twice, because that happened to me. You are so darn lucky. Im wicked jealous now, Im going to go cry in a corner

96 people. 4 rounds. That's crazy.
I went 5-2 and got a Deck Box some packs and Dr. Fate. Sux because I got 6th due to tiebreakers and only 5th and up got playmats.
The effects in this set are more complicated than other sets I believe.
I won a mat as a door prize -- woo hoo!
I got to chat with a TCG dad and his wife. With two kids playing, he become a VS collector and casual player. Older guy like me. :) Always nice to meet different people. He didn't get real lucky in the sealed though.
I lucked out and went 3-1 and got 2nd based on tiebreakers. Got the sweet swag! :) The mat I couldn't get (since I won it as a door prize) got randomnly spun off. It went to the collector guy I met! Woo-hoo. Gotta say UDE, the prize distribution setup is great policy. Walking away with two mats sounds great, but it's wayyy better to see a guy like him go something sweet too.
My son won a T-shirt as a door prize, which are the prizes he likes the most (he actually told me before the event he only wanted to get the T-shirt.)
Did the draft too. That was a blast, though I really had no clue where to go with things. Nothing stood out in my packs either. So, my rule of drafting, if you don't know what you want, take the rare! (If you ever see me at a draft pod in day 2, watch the pros trip over themselves running to see if they are seated by me!)
Pack 1, pick 1 - Foil Rock of Eternity (JSA)
1:2 Foil Maxwell Lord (Checkmate: bad in limited, but again nothing stood out and I collect foil sets)
1:3 Advance Warning (JSA)
pack 4 had good JSA char and bam, I was set.
2:1 Jay Garrick, The Flash Woo hoo!
2:2 I got passed Deathstroke. Cool!
3:1 Rex Tyler , Hourman
6 rares! And I ended up with a nice JSA setup and even got Mr. Freeze which gave me a chance to play Deathstroke. Went 2-0 in very, very close games and split the packs with the other 2-0, as we were getting booted from the room. Woo-hoo, 6 rares and 5 packs!
Draft side note: Checkmate was wayyyy under or completely undrafted.
quips:
The exhaustion PTs (Revitalize, Deflection) work very well, esp with 5 drop Hawkman.
I Still Hate Magic! - The Glass Jaw of the plot twists?
Mr Freeze is great. That's a nasty effect in limited.
Wesley Dodds is very annoying.
Shazam!
Oh, I should add it was a MUCH greater experience than when 1/2 the field knew the whole set. I didn't see the spoiler last time while my first opponent had it printed out in front of him.
Also, kudos to Unity Entertainment. They did a great job, esp considering they ran a Yugioh regional at the same time. Excellent thinking putting the signs up by the road to get to the event (it was tucked away on a campus.)
