Have any of you read that finals coverage? What did Ian do 2 out of the 3 games (he would've the last game but sage was out) he moved Merlyn the the hidden area everytime on 4 with rook control, it's pretty hard to hit him when you can't see him. When he's in the hidden area he won't lose his counter, so he'll be able to shoot as he pleases.
Even Ian agreed he was immensely lucky in the discard deck matchup. He never expected to win that round.
(Sage was, in fact, an 11th hour deck change, and a disputed one, which is why everyone on the "team" ended up playing a different tech choice.) :)
(What's funny is we started making a discard deck when DJL came out, but our version didn't look anything like the Ivy League version, and we'd abandoned it a little too early, apparently. We were amazed that over two dozen people ended up bringing it.)
Anyways.. the other two matchups aren't nearly as bad.
Though Checkmate Toolbox is a work in progress.. we've had some arguments over whether the aggressive TAWC version is stronger in the current meta. And whether three or four EomEs should be in there. :D
Im not certain what decklists you guys have been testing, it would probably help if we saw the build. If it is losing to everything, then you are either playing it wrong, or it isnt built properly. Either way, it seems that youve got some more testing to do.
It's the exact same build as Ian's minus a metallo and plus a jester for the match against fate squad. and me and my friends have dissected this deck and it has only won 5 times out of about 20-25 games.

Ive tested the deck extensively and my testing results are the polar-opposite of yours. I found that it was winning more often than not. I didnt get to test against Killing Joke enough simply because the deck is crazy hard to play and we werent doing the deck justice. But 5:25 is a ridiculous ratio. You must have been doing something wrong.
well the +2 Defense for Samsarra is nice. But beyond that, it is just an additional 6 drop.
In some matchups you want to use the Asmodeus plan and you need to have several 6 drops. Being able to have 3-4 6 drops against your opponents single 6 drop will often result in concession.
I see, another question is what are you matchup statistics, I mean I'm just wondering how it fares in a 10+ game scenario against FateSquad and MHS, I was just thinking, maybe instead of thret Neutralized it could run Misappropriation or Meltdown or something of the sort since after July Killing Joke won't be a problem and we'll see a lot more equipment heavy decks like FateSquad and MHS so maybe it wouldn't be a bad meta call
Fatesquad is a rough matchup. Those early beats can really do you some harm. It depends on your metagame. If you are worried about it, just toss in a copy of Jester.
one of my only losses that day was my first round loss against fate squad. To be honest Ive been away from the game for a while and that deck totally blindsided me. I didnt test that matchup nor have I since the event. but I estimate that matchup to be about 50% without Jester and 70% with him. (depending entirely on your opponents draw)
As for MHS, Ive yet to lose to MHS with the deck either in testing or in tournament play. The early beats hurt really bad, but they just cant deal with a hidden merlyn.
As for Threat Neutralized, I admit that it was in there primarily to hate out Killing Joke. But after playing with it that day, I feel that it still needs to be in the deck.
You truly need the insurance. A friend of mine missed his neutralized and lost to sunfire/fatality.
And besides, it is still very good against MoE and Dr. Light Based Decks.
