I still to this day cannot figure out what Ivy League has to do with the actual deck besides Ivy, but who cares? Ivy League is a sweet name for a deck that abuses Poison Ivy, and that's that. Also note, that Killing Joke was a bad name, and should be on Graham's list. I mean come on how unoriginal can you get?
We here at the WV Academy of Deck Building, Naming and Sciences have a motto.... "If our deck isn't school themed, it isn't broken." Evil Medical School, New School and Ivy League.
The actual name Ivy League makes perfect sense. Think of our country's great Ivy League schools; Harvard, Yale and WV Tech. I mean the name is school themed, which we love, and the deck is centered around Poison IVY and Justice LEAGUE of Arkham. Seems fairly obvious.
We had a team member make a version of Masters of Evil/Glee.
He called it The Jungle Book.
Ahhh... Mowgli. Clever. We called that deck "Moogle" after those cute bastards from all them Final Fantasy games.
Some guys I tested with made a New School deck that used some Teen Titans cards: Garth for card recursion and Raven for Board Control. We called it "High School."
My nomination= Multiple Personalities. It is my New Brotherhood Multiple man deck.
IT contains:
20 Multiple Man
12 Pyro's 4 each of the 3 available
4 Long Shot
4 Tattoo'd Man (He is coming out cause this ends game before 5 most times to be replaced by location in web that gives reinforcment when powered up)
4 The New Brotherhood
4 Genosha
4 unipower (when you absolutely have to attack that back row)
8 other cards i dont remember
now in just gotta get the Multiple Man's CURSE YOU EBAY!
Should the common rule be that the deck originator should be the one to name it unless everyone agrees the name is just really, really bad?
My favorite pet-deck is a 2 team deck, both teams of which will be getting a revamp soon, so I'm almost thinking I might want to "establish" the name that I used on these forums once so that someone else doesn't name it something stupid and annoying just in case the huge amount of new cards it's getting makes the team-up more popular.
The Name: Peter Friendly
It's really fun to smack someone around with a deck named "Peter Friendly".
At the moment it's just some golden-age pet deck, so even if you don't like my name, you won't have to hear it unless the team-up becomes more popular in upcoming sets.
That's right, I'm making it official (well, as much as I can holding no authority).
SF + TT = Peter Friendly.
(patent pending)
Speaking of which ... if anyone out there has a deck that they're worried someone else will name, I think it might be fun to run kind of a "Patent Office" here on the boards, where people can "officially" name their decks, assuming everyone else doesn't just "BOO" the name down.
So ... anyone want to post their deck name so other people don't make one and name it something stupid?
I think Light Show was one of the best names for a deck that I ever heard, or GLEEEVIL from pcla last year, that was pretty kool too, but Evil Medical School and High Voltage take the cake IMO.
I like "Light Show". Then again, I am probably the source of the name, so I'm biased. I once did a search on the term here, and found that I was the first person to use the term, posts going back as far as two weeks before anyone else repeated it. For as crappy as the decks I build can be, I at least have a good talent for picking quippy names that describe a deck well. "Sin City" vs. "Gold Rush", anyone? ^_^
