His old-school name was "Chameleon Boy," iirc. But, ya, I agree - names like Apparition, Triad, and Umbra always struck me as even sillier than the percieved silliness they were trying to reform when they changed the names (at least I'm assuming that's why they changed the names - who knows?).

Chameleon Boy appeared in the Amalgam Comics book Spider-Boy Team-Up. He was merged with Spider-Man's first costumed villain, also named Chameleon to form the character Chameleon.

So, maybe it wasn't a mistake after all! :)
