Why Hard Sound Construct (Marvel) exists is a link between DC and Marvel. That's been there for a while.
I know, cause one card fixes the whole problem.
Fact is that there has been 3 constructs total since the release of DGL. and 2 of those were in a marvel set, one of which was team stamped to an unrelated team. YAY!
magic? 1 other card so far, but it still has time.
Constructs, and cards that reference willpower on a whole have become scarce, what happened to the 'willpower' team? did they become afraid of that dream?
I'm not talking about it's current application. I don't care if every deck out there was a mental mutant deck. There should constantly be cards supporting the keyword, or why the heck did they even bother dedicating a whole set to it.
All the teams (from that set) that don't fit into the mental mutant scheme of things is just sitting on the wayside waiting for ude to remember they are there?
Not to mention the number of high-end mental characters that don't get to use Mental cards because they aren't mutants: Saturn Girl (intergalactic-range mental powers...but can't use a card that to which Artie has access), J'onn J'onzz (who at least got Willpower to make up for it), Universo (same as J'onn), Maximus the Mad, Moondragon, etc. Perhaps the "powers" subsection wasn't so hot a keyword to bring into play if it was only going to be used for Mutant (they could have just had a Mutant term).
the original idea was that the term 'mutant' in mutant - mental, etc, was that the 'mutant' part would be interchangable with DC counterparts. It never really got pushed though
I don't see why UDE hasn't used any traits in DC sets. It isn't just for Mutants, in the rules Mutant is just a class. They can use a different class, and still use the Energy, Mental, and Physical if they want.
Or just skip the "class" and use the Energy, Mental or Physical on very appropriate characters. Not every character would need it but, say, Saturn Girl could've had Mental, Wildfire could have had Energy (being a glob of sentient energy), etc. Again, not advocating every character gets the trait but just ones where it would be really really appropriate (I'm sorry but it seems silly that Imra can't use, say, Mental Probe).

Mutant is already dead after one set.
Yeah, I bet they won't do ANYTHING with it in the set that's going to feature the X-Men again.
I mean, after Spider-Man, Evasion died and NEVER came back.
After Superman, Cosmic died and NEVER came back.
As for the willpower "team"?
Well, let's see. How long has Dr. Light been dominant and causing problems? Maybe now that he's gone, the willpower 'team' can get back together.
Or perhaps, they didn't really need direct support [i.e. a ton of effects that reference willpower, although they did get a few after the set] but they HAVE been getting people that have willpower.
Mutant is similar ... they've gotten some people with the mutant keyword although not as many direct references to mutant traits.
Of course, DC doesn't have mutants, and the marvel set was HERALDS OF GALACTUS ...
You know, space people ... mutants are human beings that are BORN genetically different. The fantastic four, and spider-man, and hulk and such are mutates [mutated AFTER birth]. The inhumans aren't even technically human, and most are mutates ... mutated by the Terragen Mists. And the rest of the set were not human ... they were form space.
As for Magic ... Heralds of Galactus and Legion of Superheroes.
Not much magic involved in SPACE and THE FUTURE ... that's aliens and futuristic technology.
Now, Marvel's next set features Dr. Strange ... there is a chance for Magic there.
Sets, and characters, have themes. They aren't going to pump out MILLIONS of support cards for every possible theme/mechanic ... especially if:
(a) The mechanic is already solid [willpower, for a while at least]
(b) It doesn't fit thematically in the set [i.e. Magic in a space/future set, Mutants in a DC set, etc]
(c) It isn't the most important for legacy content [you aren't going to put in a GENERIC card that references willpower unless the set is thematically tied to willpower ... they could only put a card like Ring Has Chosen or Willworld into a set with at LEAST two teams that have that mechanic, plus some splashes on other teams. See also: Cosmic Tuning Fork in Legion ... where 2 teams have heavy cosmic, and the other two teams have at least one splash character with cosmic].
