You could be right but my team is bias as I'm sure most of the teams on here are. My team is solely based on the knowledge of X-Men that I have. Unfortunately, I never read too much about Havok so I don't know much about his skills. Sorry.

As a die-hard Claremont X-Men fanboy this is a VERY tough question.
Especially after the fact that I have just read Claremont's entire 15 year run on Uncanny in the past 1 1/2 months. That includes Giant Size X-Men #1, Uncanny X-Men #'s 94 all the way up to 279.
I don't know if I could narrow it down to such low numbers, but I'll give it a try:

Nothin' to be sorry about man. That's part of the reason I started this thread. So I could see who people chose and why. It's informative and entertaining......It's Infotainment.

I know what you mean ro_gan, but the first time I posted a thread like this I had the number at 10 and I think it intimidated people. 8 in the field, two in support.
If I tossed in two more it would've been Proffesor X in support and Longshot in the field.
lol, "Infotainment"
I did some more thinking about what I do know about Havok and Cyclops and well, I think you have to look at who else is on the team. They may both be very competent leaders but the question is who's going to follow them. Cyclops is where it all started. You go back and he's been with the team from the beginning with the exception of when he was with X-Factor. Havok has been around for just about that long however, he hasn't always been with the X-Men and that's who we're talking about here. When I made my team up, I was thinking of my favorite X-Men and then I was thinking of who they would follow best. And Cyclops fit the bill. Sure Havok could possibly lead my team but he wouldn't have the same effect as Cyclops would with them.

I don't think Professor X should count anywhere. The Prof has always been there and always will be.
I think it should just be assumed he is on the team and shouldn't count against the team or support numbers.
Even when Xavier was away with Lilandra in Shi'ar space he was still with his X-Teams. Charles Xavier's "Dream" of humans and mutants living together in peace and harmony has always (in one shape or form) been forefront in every X-Teams reason for being. So, even though he might have been away he has always been there.

LOL, after I read your theory on Professor X and the X-Men I was going to say pretty much the same thing back to you. I agree that Xavier is the main reason for any X-Men team and if he can't be in the minds (ie. telepathy ) of the members, then he'd be in the hearts of the members.

Good points all around folks. I'd toss Angel in as my other support if I had raised the roster to 10. Kinda looks like the Uncanny Roster we currently have in continuity.
I think that Alex has risen to the same level of greatness with Scott as far as cabability to lead. I do agree though, with Alex ending up in Limbo for a 30 issue Mutant X run, that familiarity with him and his teamates may lack a little.
While in the driver's seat for X-Factor though he really learned how to be a leader, and by the end of the run was confident and top-notch. Then, thrown into a different universe he still lead a rag-tag bunch to greatness.
Now that he is back in Uncanny (which was leaderless for a while, I love Kurt, but he is not a leader) you can see the team just submitting to him, and it's pretty sweet. Alex has always been the emotional one and Scott has always been the steady. I think they have now switched roles. Scott is now a mess and Alex has been put back together again. Gotta love the Summers brothers!!
