They may be talking about how "colors" in Magic [or the 'types' in Pokemon] are more limited in number that teams ... thus increasing the synergy between sets.
However in that case "better" isn't necessarily the right word ... simpler or easier might be more appropriate.
Magic is bad in two ways in that you can get mana screwed and lose or get mana flooded and lose. If you lose tempo in magic and don't draw action you can lose just as quickly as getting mana screwed. Hurray two ways to lose interaction in a game due to the resource system! Since cards do serve multiple purposes in Vs, (plus you draw two cards and there is a plethera of search options now available for any team/card type) I find I rarely 'miss' a drop/lose anymore when my deck is designed well. Especially in constructed. Also missing a drop is not an auto loss the same way as playing 'land / go / draw / land / go / draw / go / draw / go / draw / go' was in magic, or the even worse, mulligan, four land hand then drawing three action cards and 4 to 6 lands before you were dead.
There are a lot of things I miss about Magic, (always someone to play limited or constructed/ great secondary market) the resource system is not one of them.
i dont play munchkin to win, i play munchkin so that some random other player doesnt. i have more fun that way. we were playing Epic Munchkin and i managed to keep one of the players from advancing beyond level 2. it was awesome.
The funniest part of that review to me was the complaint about how busted Sabertooth is. Wow... I remember 2003. Good year. But for serious? Wait until he sucks down a load of the Doomiest Doctor. That'll burn all the way down. lol
If they're complaining about Sabretooth, then they didn't play the single player game far enough. When you get to a point where your opponent starts the game with Master Mold in play...
Seriously though, comparing the game to Munchkin just sacrificed all credibility the reviewer had. Munchkin gets filed under Board Game for me. Hell, it's sold in the Board Game section of my FNGS. It's not a real CCG.
I've never played Pokemon though. I mean, it's Pokemon.

Around here, people get beaten for that kind of play. Just fair warning, bucko.
i think the guy that wrote the review has never played a card game before and if it's possible that he has then never played one well. His review shows that he has probably never really took the time to learn VS system or tried and was too hard for his tiny brain.
I just feel bad for the people that read his review and believe it without realizing how little this guy knows.
