I think you are taking the term base set too literally. I think Greata is just reflecting a term that the community has been using liberally lately The community has been calling for a while now for a "base set". I don't get any sense from this of a portal like set. I think he's just implying that it's going to be a playable, fun set with lots of popular characters, and might allude to a change in format's for op. Might be nice to have a "base set" that doesn't rotate out for modern. Probably wouldn't have an impact on silver, but for modern it could make the format easier to keep up with a new sets are released. A set that is only replaced once every few years, like the base sets in magic. Perhaps establish a set of cards that are going to be reprinted often like flying kick. Just give the game some stability and consistancy for the rotating formats.

They have already done portal style eleases with the newer batman, fantastic four and x-men starter decks. I don't belive they will ever attempt a full set with that focus.

Just glad to know more specifics about the upcoming vs. Love. I think It's going to be a very good year.

The Legends sets sound cool. I was worried that they would have a lot of reprints, and that would be extremely unfortunate. However, I like the idea of making a deck that revolves in some way around a single favorite character, like Doom did.

More Gallery Packs could be excellent. They were a little pricey, so I didn't buy many, but I did get some cool stuff in the few I got (EA No Man Escapes the Manhunters!), and maybe this time Marvel won't get shafted on their EA's.

I hope that, by saying that Civil War will be a theme, rather than a focus, he means that I won't have to put up with pro-reg and anti-reg affiliations. I think I can live with that. I have a feeling it won't be true, but still...

Just great stuff all around. I really like the way they've decided to build in so much fun stuff. Yeah big money is nice for some people, but everyone can have fun. And this new stuff just looks amazingly fun!

My (predictable) question is that will any of the "extra" stuff - specifically Giant Size Vs, make it's way to Europe. I honestly believe that GSV could restore the game over here, but if, as I have come to expect, it does not appear on these shores, I see those who are desperately clinging onto the game just giving up.

Personally, If these exciting developments are not made readily available in Europe, I can see a scenario in which I would have to seriously reconsider the time and money I invest in this game. Please, Mr Gaeta (as I hold out zero hope of hearing from someone in Holland) can you shed any light on this?

Seconded. The game in Europe (Master Challenge notwithstanding) is seriously struggling, with a number of things (Hellboy, Gallery Packs, Hobby League Marqee events, etc.) not even making it over here...

But truthfully, given the info we just got, that fact bugged me for all of two seconds. I'm pretty psyched. If he would have just mentioned Alpha Flight, it would have been the perfect update!
