4) Vicarious Living (it's not Enemy of my Enemy, but it's still quite good)
I gotta disagree with you B.S. (My most humble apologies, venerable master.) But Vicarious is not good in Random Punks, and here's my reasoning:
Random Punks will, in all likelihood, be dominated by standard curve decks. In the majority of cases, the greatest challenge is hitting your curve, not hitting a specific character for the drop. In the case of Vicarious Living, drawing a 4-drop on turn 4 is going to be more crucial, than drawing a VL and a random 4-drop that you can cycle.
That being said, there are two major situations that this is not true. One, is a swarm deck. In the case of a Faces, AGL, Legionnaires (seen it), Sinister Sindicate (seen it), type deck. Trading your already-in-play 2-drop for a different one is great. And two, the situation where a specific drop is required for the deck to go off. Most likely on 3 or 4. I can see a Checkmate or possibly a Good Guys build playing extra 3-drops and Vicarious Living to get Ahmed or Shayra. Potentially, you could use VL to get a power-up or simply thin the deck. But I just don't see it's potential to make a top 5. Sorry.
Had you said any of the other search cards + Midnight Sons or something, I'd have been happier. (Btw, Midnight Sons + ANY of the search cards seems very good. Coercion too. Has anyone seen a Checkmate/VU Random Punks build yet?)
I gotta disagree with you B.S... But Vicarious is not good in Random Punks...
Tell you what: read my article on Wednesday. Build the deck (I'll PM you the changes that I've made to it since the initial build), play it, then tell me that you don't think that Vicarious Living deserves a spot in the Top 5.
I've been on vacation for a week, so I've just caught up on the last two 'casts - getting better each time gents.
Thanks for the Euro mention. I think the vast majority of people in Europe seem to think UDE don't make VS any more, so trying to (re)raise the profile of the game is something of a battle. I do what I can through articles and my site, but any mentions you can drop in to the 'cast are apreciated.
The Masters Challenge is - in essence, our own 10K level event - without the cash. I've been trying to push this event (although I'm not able to attend myself). I've heard rumours that expected attendance will be between 60-80 - which is dissapointing when you consider previous 10K's over here attracted twice that number, but it's still better than a kick in the teeth.
The other good news is that we are getting two Elite Series events. One in London, one in Scotland.
As for top five RP plot twists
1) Flying Kick (already been done to death)
2) Cover Fire (in the right build, far more devastating than AD)
3) Meltdown (Universally speaking)
4) Uni-Power (handy for cloaked characters as well as the other benefits)
5) Not so fast (I'd probably go for PTA in reality, but I wanted to be a little original)
