Did you just refer to yourself in the third person?!!?!?.
I did. I was thinking that maybe some readers might not be listeners of TRHC (*GASP*) and that they might not know me. Then I realized that I'm so tasty that I should be referred to in the forth-person . . . .
I was just looking over my stuff from wf and was wondering what teams are left for the next dc set or are we coming up to the buff the old teams phase of the game.
p.s. just so you know marvel still has alot of teams to be used such as the exiles, runaways, force works, and Heroes for Hire only to name a few.
Great show guys. Cool crossover. The set review was really cool as well. Just for the record, the anime games of the month suck. Naruto sucks! Avatar sucks! Yugi sucks! Pokemon sucks! Whew, let out some anger. Keep up the good work guys.
Congrats Richard on the birth of your new baby girl. Only listened to the first 15 minutes or so but thought I would comment on that while it's slow at work.
Dragon Warrior = Dragon Quest. Back in the 80's when Nintendo and Enix decided to translate DQ1 to the US they decided to change the name to Dragon Warrior. It stayed with that name through the first 7 main games and the ones on Game Boy as well. Starting with the 8th main game, they decided just to leave the name as Dragon Quest.
I've always hated the DW/DQ games though. DQ8 is the only game of the series I can stand. If pushed to I could probably write a 2-3 page essay on how DW 1-4 pushed the US RPG video game market back for years.
If you want some new RPG's then I would recommend getting an XBox 360. Last gen PS2 was the main machine for RPG's, but now XBox seems to have the edge. Besides Oblivion that came out last year (plus the last two expansions for it are downloadable on the 360) there are 5 good-great exclusive RPG's coming this year and 1 next year.
This year the 360 gets:
Mass Effect (Bioware)- Remember the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic games? Imagine what Bioware can do with a next-gen version of a game like that, but a completely new, original story line not tied into Star Wars? This comes out in November.
Blue Dragon/Lost Odessey (Mistwalker Games)- The original designer and musician of the first 9 FF games formed this new game studio when they left Square-Enix and they develop exclusively for Microsoft now. Blue Dragon also has the art work of the guy who did DQ8 (most famous for Dragon Ball Z) as well. Blue Dragon would be fairly similar to DQ as guys pop out and you have the chance to either avoid them or fight them. This hits the US in August.
Not as much is known about Lost Odyssey except you play this guy who's lived over 1000 years but has lost his memory of all the battles he's fought. Something is sapping the lifeforce of the planet away and the answer is in his past. The art style of this seems to be very similar to FF 10 or FF 12. It's supposed to come out Nov/Dec.
Eternal Sonata (Bandai/Namco)- The concept of this game is a little weird. You play as the famous composer Chopin who while on his death bed as a child, created this dream world based off his music in his mind. You and his friends in this dream world must save it while in real life Chopin is actually dying. The game hypes that it will "blur the lines between fantasy and reality." The game style is very similar it seems to the Tales series on Gamecube/PS2. It's comes out in Sept/Oct.
Two Worlds- This game comes out in Aug./Sept. and is trying to be an Oblivion killer. It's a fantasy 1st/3rd person perspective action RPG with online multiplayer. It's from a brand new studio so I can't attest to how good this will be but the graphics look fine and if it's close to Oblivion's quality it should see some good sales.
Too Human (Silicon Knights) [next year]- This is an in depth action RPG where you play as the guardian of the human race. Human's and machines live in this fractured peace until an evil force tries to destroy humanity. You play as the half human/half machine guardian who must use his blades or guns to save humanity. Think of a cross between Devil May Cry and the console Baldur's Gate games. As you progress in levels, you must decide whether you want to upgrade the human side or your machine side. The quest/endings change based on what you choose.
The Silicon Knights games are always pretty good (their last game was Eternal Darkness on the Gamecube) and this is supposed to be the first game of a trilogy. It'll come out next year.
There's also a rumor the 360's will drop in price on Aug. 1 to $200-$250 for the Core (no hard drive), $300-$350 for the Premium (w/hard drive) and $400-$450 for the Elite (HDMI port and 120 GB hard drive) so I would wait a couple of weeks to see if that rumor is true. Also, the warranty has been extended by Microsoft so if you get the infamous 3 red lights of death (indicating internal error in the machine) you get free service for 3 years (if the DVD drive goes out or some other error happens the warranty is 1 year) so I think the time is right if you're going to get a 360.
Oh and you can see my PS1/2 collection and see I'm not a Microsoft fanboy. Sony just screwed up so much with no singular online network support, the PSP, and the PS3 that I made the switch.
