You listed some characters that are insane and not insane. Bullseye is not insane, Doc Ock is not Insane...
the post a few up of yours i think labelled some good ones, but insane? It's questionable with these characters. They are driven socio-paths no doubt, but all of them take no cake to the Asylum.
Even if a clear cut case could be made for their insanity you are now talking about taking the mechanic out of teams and being able to place stamps on the Insanity cards for those teams because you can't make a team in Marvel that is derived of Insanity at it's core like the Asylum.
Pulling the mechanic into the open realm of non-stamped and giving it to too many teams enables ease of team-ups and its use and it gets away from the flavor of the theme.
The powerful effects these cards generate are game breaking alone adding heavily or loosely to that pool breaks down the game in a bad way and we would end up with a banned pool that is large.
I'm pretty sure a new Arcade and Murderworld would be nice with some Insanity text, and a new Mojo wouldn't be done right if he didn't have Insanity. There are plenty of crazies in the Marvel Universe.
Insanities cards are too powerful to just have random one-of's here and there that can be compiled into one mass pool of a sub-versus game called insanity.
a team, where is a team in marvel that these insanity effects can be flavor or theme stamped to?
As has already been mentioned, the Syndicate has a strong core of insane characters. Carnage's entire "family" of Shriek, Doppleganger and Demogoblin were pretty much just killing for killing's sake. Venom is borderline as his obsession with Spidey is quite unhealthy. Insanity is a side-effect of the Green Goblin serum so both Harry and Norm have been established as insane.
And Doc Ock, folks Doc Ock should be considered insane just for that bowl haircut.
I don't understand why "INSANITY," which is chaotic by nature, needs to be organized into a cohesive team.
I think Arkham Inmates are naturally inclined to be given the keyword as a team mechanic, so that makes sense.
However, Dr. Spectrum got Willpower just because it was appropriate. Squadron Supreme didn't have a willpower theme.
I say give the crazies Insanity, regardless of team or universe. If the shoe fits, wear it on your head.
I don't think they 'have' to have it, but without that overarching theme through out the set, I don't see much of a point. I guess they could make 1 or 2 more generic Insanity cards (is there one other than Jack in the Box?) but, it will be difficult to utilize the 'theme's' effect in constructed unless you team up with Arkham.
I don't want anymore Insanity cards crapping up the rare slot in my packs either. Everytime I buy a pack and see 'Jack in the Box' or 'Obey or Die' it's a huge dissapointment. I have ran out of local players to give the cards away to and it's effecting my decision to buy more packs.

And we have a winnnahh!
Thank you bib, you sir have just won the solid-gold strait jacket.
If a chacter fits the keyword, insanity or otherwise, give it to em'.
Also, I seem to remember awhaile back, VS fans saying that marvel would most likley never have cosmic either.
Funny you should mention Squadron Supreme, if any character on that team deseves insanity, it should be the newer (JMS) re-imagined version of Redstone.
Have you seen this loony-tune in the recent SS book, he's nutter than chinese chicken salad.
He deserves insanity for darn sure!
I think that any Insanity cards in the future need to be "double effect" cards, like Burn Baby Burn and the like.
Also, any relevant point in any characters life (or "version" if you will) could be given Insanity. Scarlet Witch, you know. Quicksilver. Magneto. I would hate to see this awesome mechanic not see any growth. Besides, how cool would it be to have to choose between more than 60 insanity cards?
I don't see it happening any time soon, as everyone has pointed out, there's a big shortage of "insane" in the MU, not enough for a team to play around with anyway. And if UDE has been unwilling to transfer keywords that actally make sense in either universe like Vengence or Ally, I don't see them swapping a much tougher keyword to make use of in Insanity.
