I too hate the way they did the article history. Takes forever to find an article more than a week old, especially if you can't remember the name or when it appeared. PITA.
The current cast of writers is constrained somewhat by UDE's desire to refocus the game on the more casual player, so I think they all deserve some Slack (Get it? One of the writer's names is Slack. Never mind...) on the subject matter issue. I think they all do a good job given the constraints they have to work with, although I do sometimes wonder if Stu's target audience lives on this planet. :)
What would you like to see on VsSystem.com that wouldn't just be poo?
This is a more than valid question. Here are some answeres. Many of which I'm sure folks will disagree with.
Focus on decks for premier formats. We have an elite series coming up and everyone is afraid of Quickfate. Present them with a viable alternative, or alternatives. I'd like to say that the work associated with the legends format I've seen there is like this, and is the right direction, but not enough so. Articles about formats that only exist in someones local play group and arn't supported by UDE feel like a waste of my time (nothing personal) it is a game and its all about having fun, but if nobodies playing it at the next event, at my hobby league, around my kitchen table, what's the point.
The White on Black is killing my old eyes.
Perhaps since we are "relaunching" some VS. 101 would be nice, sure we've seen most of it, but what about the new guys, and honestly I would read them because often better players have insights into interactions that I have not concieved.
Show me something I haven't thought of that is relevant to me playing and winning the game, in a format supported at any level of OP. Show me how to use a card I wouldn't have considered playing.
It is only my opinion, I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but it was how I felt, and I wanted better, so I stated it.
Perhaps without the Pros we are just not challenged to achieve in this new casual friendly play because you like it enviorment.
Oh and the chess thing, yeah but I bought a chess board for $10 and haven't had to reinvest since, its far less expensive to keep up with the meta-game in chess, making it a poor analogy for this game.
...and Erick disregard me at your own peril, I've still got plenty of POO for YOU.

So, something similar to Breaking Ground? Except perhaps keeping the format focussed on the format for the next big event [Silver or Modern likely ...]
