UDE employees, including Ben Seck, should be fired for their performance over the past year of bumbling OP, Hobby League (constantly late or not shipping at all), and continous failure on the VS game.
So the person DESIGNING THE SETS should be fired for complaints that have NOTHING to do with set design? Honestly?

Those that don't agree are simply trying to live out the game due to already having invested their money and hope to have a game in which to play. Hands down, everyone is right in saying VS is a great game, maybe the best one on the market (though not proven), but it takes more than card graphics, license, and great mechanics to make a game great (ask Decipher.Inc). You have to support a game, which includes:
- Organized Play (annouced at least a year in advance, or in December if there is OP in that December, basically, something to always to look forward too)
- Holy ####, get a frickin tournament locator, this more than anything has hampered the game
- Holy ####, list the time and day of Elite Series and City Championships on the website.
- Have interaction between UDE staff and VS players (and more than the I posted on VS Realms to get info, a more interactive relationship is needed)
So, basically because they've fallen short in those areas, they need to fire people that don't have anything to do with organizing Organized play or things that are lacking on the website.
Ben Seck and Billy Zonos better get on their phones and e-mails to contact all those stores because instead of designing sets, theyneed to be telling use when and where Hobby Leagues are being run.

- Really, exclusive cards. UDE get over yourself, there should never be exclusive cards for any tournament, regardless if you can get those cards later (ask anyone that is trying to order XMEN Assemble now). This is the worst idea ever.
It's such a bad idea that it has been used in other games to varying degrees of success. Considering that it means that tournament prizes are sought after, and therefore have a secondary market value .... it means that while there aren't cash prizes, there are prizes that are worth something to players.

These are just a few examples of where UDE has failed this year. Again, those that defend UDE are blind to the truth (though I wish it weren't so). Damn, it just sucks what they've done to a great game, and I've decided a company that f's up this much doesn't deserve my time of day.
Glad to see the things they've messed up have blinded you to everything else. They need to deal with high level OP ... and they are doing so. Part of that involves restructuring, which has been announced. A number of people have changed jobs recently, and during the nebulous time of adding WoW into the UDE games family, not knowing whether or not the Topps merger would go through, and people being prepared for new positions, not to mention ambitious products like exclusive hobby league prizes, the Legend sets and the Giant Sized sets ... unfortunately high level OP suffered.
Honestly, they have hobby league/elite series/etc locations listed on the website. Someone can easily call up and find out when the events are being run. If UDE starts tracking start times on their websites, that means that, any changes a store makes has to be run through UDE. And if UDE doesn't update those things in time, suddenly there are problems. It's better for players to deal directly with the stores that are running events like the Elite Series and such. Upper Deck should not have to organize each of those events themselves ... sorry, but that's not really an effective use of their time. The World Championship, obviously, and they should also have a good hand in organizing the Mega Weekends. But with so many Elite Series going on at the same time, they should focus on making sure the stores have what they need, and the players know what stores there are. Outside of that, the event planning should be up to the store, because ultimately, a store has to deal with the players face to face, and can better meet their needs.
If Mega Weekends could get me an invitation to Worlds (10 PC points I suppose?) + fare + hotel, I would be ALL over that. Not saying I wouldn't go otherwise, so long as there was a Mega Weekend not 10+ hours away (anything in California, Nevada, or especially Arizona, I'll do my best to get to), but that would be the ideal prize in my opinion, especially if they have the WC in Indy.
I know having the WC in Indy (especially at Gen Con) is nice for a lot of players in the midwest or on the east coast, but it's really difficult for me to justify spending all the money to get out to Indy, especially alone. I've got a few people that I could bring with me now, though, and I might be able to get discounts on air fare if I chose not to drive 25+ hours (which I'd really rather not), but we'll see when the time comes. I'd really love to go, though - any upper level OP is quite satisfying, and really makes me look forward to the future.
- Organized Play (annouced at least a year in advance, or in December if there is OP in that December, basically, something to always to look forward too)
Does it really have to be a whole year in advance? How many companies do this that aren't named WOTC?

Since ES and CC are in the store owners hands, UDE has less control over times, so by publishing the date range and the venue information, players can call the locations and find out the specifics themselves. And of course when UDE sanctions those tournaments (which actually is done for Elites and CCs), the exact day will show up on that non-existent Tournament Locator I just posted above.
While you're at it... you should mention that UDE needs to make a website dedicated to VS... and call it something like vssystem.com.
Rocket, this thread is a great idea and asks a lot of relevant questions that many of us users may also be interested in finding out how many other players intend to attend these events. UDE can gain information from the responses (stu will always hate on other people's threads, and post about their lack of need, while posting his own in the very same forum..how do YOU spell IRONIC? ;) Teasing ya, stu; The thread is useful, though. really)
I'm starting a savings set up just for these tournaments now. I figure with the limited amount of info and UDE's tendency to change their minds as things happen (very smart to do so. Just remember to keep US informed, less we make plans WE can't just change our minds about and get shafted)
I'm planning to attend, and will start collecting up more tournament focused cards as well.
I really hope that the WCs are fun focused and not just bland "Golden Age" type stuff. Legend or Random Punks type things would be nice for the first one at least.
As for the exclusive cards, those are a great idea. Giving players an incentive to compete and to further invest/spend money is exactly what a game company should do. Utilizing the briliant plan to make those same "exclusives" available through point redemption is another great way to track the spending patterns of users and again, collect more data.
The failings we've witnessed were extreme circumstances coupled to the inner workings of business decisions and some of that will simply go over our heads in the "need to know" category. That doesn't mean bad decisions weren't made, but it likely means worse ones weren't made either.
UDE has my support and vote for the future of the game...just remember to print a Black Panther with cost 4 or higher. SOON ;)
Would you be willing to travel and spend money to win products (laptops, ipods, phones, who knows what it will be) and gain the title World Champion? -If I can afford it (which there is no way in hell I can)-
Will you come back to the game? -No need I never thought it would die-
Will you leave the game now that you know where Vs tops out? -you taking the piss? the highest level thing I have attended ever was the master challenge, that didnt have cash prizes and I loved every minute of it.-
Are you going to test more? Less? The same? -less but that is because it is getting difficult for me to get a game not due to UDE-
What has you excited about WC? -High level OP-
dissapointed about WC? -"world" sort of implies that if we ge anything in the uk the highest level it will be is a mega weekend.-
Is this the messiah Vs was waiting for? -good question, Yes because its awesome and no because we over here still won't have any high level op-
or is it a False Prophet? -no-
Teasing ya, stu; The thread is useful, though. really
Let's see. People have strong negative opinions about the game. Then I have strong negative opinions about their opinions. Then you have strong negative opinions about me. Same old same old.
This thread gave kabrune a chance to attempt his viral marketing/Jerry Springer audition, but failed. That's one strike.
People who say they will go to stuff often don't ever show up anyway. That's two.
The vast majority of the actual market never, ever, posts here. Strike three.
Batter up!
Just teasing you back. See you at the World Championships.
All I can Guarantee is that whatever i play will have Black Panther and/or Captain America and/or Daredevil and/or Batman in it.
It will likely lose, but I'll still be there.
The "vast majority" of players never even looks at these forums, right? Then that means that when we post here, we are posting amongst our friends and or like-minded users. Knowing their thoughts and feelings on a shared passion are valuable in lots of ways.
The"viral marketing" could just be brushed off and/or ignored, since his thoughts didn't really deal with the initial topic.
The other members pointing out that distance is a factor for them is really valuable, since I don't know any players of big tournaments that never ever use VSrealms. If they go to tournaments across the country, then they have at some point or another poked their heads in around here in my experience.
Either way, I wish there were more big events, but then Decipher got by with only 1 or 2 fairly big events a year, if I recall correctly. Man, now I miss Decipher-con. :(
Depending on the locations and the time frame, that would determind if I go to these Worlds or not. However, I more than likely be going to the closest to me for sure so that I know if I like them or not.
