Team mechanics.

I look at the broad strokes that each team is trying to interact with or make use of. Especially if it hasn't been developed before.

Outsiders made great on team attacking as one huge attack. That's what made them #1 in my books for that set.

With MVL being refeatured teams and abilities, it didn't "pop" for me like prevoious team, but instead, individual "Legend" characters made up for that.

I look for one word and one word alone:

SEARCH

I look for the multi-function of a card. Like back in MMK, Micro-chip was an amazing card that had almost limitless possibilities. This was one of the cards that shined for me.

Also Meltdown. I can honestly say that when I build a Golden Age deck, I actually make sure that I can place Meltdown into the deck. It is a 3-of must. It has won me more game than I could count.

And it is not specifically the playability of a card. If it just pops out at me, and looks like fun, I try to build a deck around it.

My favs are

1: huge stats-

2: search-prob the best effect in the game is search

3: KO effects that give me board control-Mutant Mass is my fav since it gives dead draws.

Characters I like.

Then comes making the best deck that utilizes them.

Characters are usually my first look. Then it's a theme of some kind that I can build around, whether a play strategy or a deck idea. Great art is always a plus too.

I know what I don't look at first. Stats! Big numbers rarely pop to me and many times I wonder why people like certain cards until they not their stats. I always read the text first. If the ability looks game breaking or some how slows down my opponent I normally start there.

I totally missed how good vengence is but I REALLY like Mammomax! With Brotherhood Being SO aggressive it is nice to not be taking so much damage. Vengence accelerates the game and is good on initiative but bad off. IDK, just me I guess!

Ongoing Plot Twists and ways to get them. I love Revenge Squad.

I gotta say that the overall importance of "Main Characters" to me for Vs is also tied to their representations. 6 drop Batman from DWF is awesome. TDK was even better in my opinion. He's got that effect that shows that Batman is at his best the more prepared he is and the cards in hand truly show that with that version of him.

Repped for being an honest male. I must say tho that hot chicks do drag my attention. I look for something outlandishly rediculous to play. Is for fun ;)

On theme/team hate,I love cards that not only hate on equip/hidden/weenie/etc. but hate will fitting nicely into my them.

Sure skreeee isa good card but in my titans/outsider deck relentless pursuit is better cause it suppers team attacking.

The other thing i look for is cards that just dont make sense.
I mean the cards that just make you say WTF this card in no way reflects the character its based on.

all speedsters have readying effects so a flash that said o i dont know"flas gets +1/+1 for every location in play would just be ########.

I think vixen is one of those cards look at beast boy and animal mans effects.
Since vixens power is very much like there's i think she should have had an effect a bit closer to theres.

Overpowered or strong non-rare low drops.
