I'd been playing Magic casually for many years when one day I met Keebler Powell. Talked me into trying out VS instead. I was hooked. Yeah, it's pretty much all Keeb's fault, and now he's all about the WOW*grumble*.
When I was 12-13 years old (2004), I was playing Yu-Gi-Oh! and one day my brother showed me this new game called VS. He was already anticipating the game before Marvel Origins was released and even though I like Shonen Jump more, Marvel and DC always had a place in my heart. So he asked me if I wanted to play and he taught me the basics with me using a Fantastic Four Equipment deck. I really enjoyed the game so I decided to do some research online, but then I went back to playing YGO.
Later that year he gave me a bunch of DOR cards and it started the love for one of my favorite teams in VS, Teen Titans. I always saw team attacking as a neat mechanic and when I could base a whole deck around, I was very pleased. I carried on to Spider-Man's expansion with my favorite team being Sinister Syndicate, but didn't really try out DSM because I went back to Yu-Gi-Oh! When Marvel Knights came around I started to play VS every now and then all the way up to 2007, with my main TCG being YGO. One day however, I decided to look up some Versus System things as I always had respect for the game. After a Regional Event of Yu-Gi-Oh then playing a game of VS System, it was decided. I had more fun playing that one game of Versus more than that whole event of Yu-Gi-Oh and jumped ship.
Now 16, I grown to really enjoy the game and the only thing that can replace it for me is my first love, the Pokemon TCG. VS allows a more casual field than Yu-Gi-Oh did and lets me be creative without having to worry about the next set being leagues better than the previous. That is why I got into VS.
