I think it's fine. It's a concept as old as time, and it's probably very tiring to write down 'look at the top card of your deck blah blah blah' over and over again. This frees up space AND makes it easier for them turn it into a team theme, which it looks like they're doing.
Even so, I'm far more excited about non-character cards getting boost effects. 'Bout time, I say.
If they introduced it in DCL for Society, we could have had a Rally Monkey.
I like this keyword, it's long past due for us to have one (even if simplifying the game in the meantime was a very positive move) and it's something that seems rather open-ended as far as design space goes. You can increase your chances artificially (through stuff like Avengers Reassembled), or you can build to increase your chances of hitting. Whereas 12 character decks can exist on one extreme, Rally (for characters, anyways) can bring things back to the other end of the spectrum, and make for some interesting deckbuilding decisions. I'm glad there's no "Golden Ratio" for building.
This is going to be so awesome meshed with the ability to bounce characters, say Kree/VU! Rally over and over!! Should be awesome for cycling and getting multiple uses of the keyverb. Sounds like its going to be a hit.
amazing. reminds me alot of scry, which was the in keyword back during my peak involvement with magic.
other things they could do:
rally the opponent's deck
rally the ko piles
rally the rfg pile*
rally from the bottom
the keyword added another layer to vs, and that isn't something I've seen in a long, long time. I'm not counting insanity, alternate boosts a little. Rally feels very refreshing.
sounds good to me. rally a [description] means it's an open-ended mechanic, so that certain teams can have as their theme rallying characters (Avengers), equipments (MK), plot twists (Doom), or locations (LoA).
