I loved the Ironman movie (and I am going to see HBII this weekend).
Before I saw the Ironman movie, I felt the best comic book movie I had ever seen was Batman Begins.
After seeing Ironman, I can't say either movie was better, but those two movies, IMO, are definitely in a class of their own. (HellBoy is a close third.)
Take a number... tchalla still owes me a standing high kick to the chin.
Erick, I remember you being a tall guy...is tchalla even tall enough to do that?
Just FYI, it would take a large step stool, years of flexibility training, and no small amount of luck for me to even think of doing something like that...in fact, just thinking of kicking that high one could hurt themselves...In fact, I think I just pulled my groin.
Not only that... but the bottom of a basketball net too.
Or so he claims on the IntarWeb.
But would that be a "standing" high kick?
One of the teachers my friends had in high school could actually kick the 10 foot high ceilings in the high school. Apparently he would do that during the first day of classes to get the students on his side.
The first Hellboy movie is my favorite comic book film.
I expect this to change come July 18th.

The big difference between the two was Begins had villains, while Iron Man didn't [really]. But, to each their own ;)
Just got back from Hellboy 2. (some potential spoilers)
I think if you liked the first one you'll like the second. I would suggest refreshing yourself with the 1st movie though.
It left me wanting more. I thought all the charcters in play were done well even the villan. I just wanted more back story. So I guess the movie really made me want to read the comic & find out more. I went out after & bought the first trade so I think that will feed my fix.
overall I am glad I saw the movie but it is no Ironman.
The only things that really dissappointed me in the movie was:
1) the Hellboy 2 movie flier which states "He is the good guy". In general people should have already figured this out via preveiws & trailers. I hate advertising that assume the general public is unaware or dumb of everything going on.
2) The only other dissapointment was I would have loved to have seen Hellboy go Samurai Jack on the whole friken golden army.
The first 1/2 hour of the movie was horrible. The second hour was better, but that's not saying much. Not a very good movie at all. And I like most movies.
The Johann/Hellboy fight was funny though. Best scene of the movie along with the singing that Tofu mentioned.
If you go, just tolerate the first 30-40 min to get to the last part.
It's tough... with really good comic book movies out now... HBII has quite a bit to live up to.
Word. It's a great time to be a geek.
Hellboy 2 was tailored toward the lower IQ viewer. Dumber, more stupid jokes, more accessible story, no real occult content. The critics loved it, but I was dissapointed.
Wanted, however, was even better than Iron Man.
We shall see about Dark Knight. I doubt it will be better than Wanted.
