I'm getting ready to make the trek to the nearest gaming store in Pittsburgh (I just moved here) to put up a sign asking VS players to e-mail me if they're interested in getting a league together/just playing a damn game or two. I haven't played VS against a person in almost 5 months.
I wish our store would actually order the HL kits. We're his only customers on Tuesday's, we've been coming every week for a year since he bought out the previous store doing VS, and he treats us like an afterthought.
We've gotten some new faces at our Hobby League recently, though it's still up in the air whether they'll be sticking around. Fingers crossed!
I'm not terribly enthused about the Clone Saga format-- it's just YET ANOTHER legend format. Haven't we kind of been doing that for a year now? Out of all the goofy formats, that's all they could come up with?
I've just put my custom cards article on hiatus due to a combination of lack of time and lack of reader interest, which should let me spend more time on the DCU team's next project, and I'm also hoping to knock together some special art projects in the next month or two.
I'm also anxiously awaiting the Battle of the Border in November-- I'll finally be able convince you all that I'm just as intolerable in person as I am online. Should be fun!
Well I keep occupied and VS. related happy by writing Group Therapy Battles with fellow TCGPlayer poster StaticCat. It's on the 4th episode and the next one is almost done, it's up on Saturday for those of you interested. I wish I could get more people involved in the discussion of the matches but no such luck, yet.
Vs. has really died in my area but I still have 5 playing buddies and hopefully an older player might be coming back into the game. I have to drive an hour to get to the closes store, and they are showing no Vs. support either. The owner said that he could call a few older players that he knew still ha some cards but with gas prices as they are and no Hobby League I just don't know anymore. Guess I'll stay playing with my friends for now. Perhaps he can order some boxes of MUN from the reprints that are supposed to be out sometime soon, any one knows when the official date is?
Hoping for DC to come back, but believe it or not I'm much more interested in a new Hellboy set.
On a side note not Vs. related I'm already sick and tired of politics, and we still have 2 more months of it before elections.
Haven't been thinking much Vs wise for a couple of weeks, what with final Masters deadline, awesome family wedding, and Electric Picnic (the greatest music festival ever) going on.
After Friday however, I will be back on form (hopefully) and trying to keep the auld blog alive (Can't be letting Gdaybloke down after he gave me a mention )
The only Vs related musings I've been doing have been Summer of Love related - I loves it I do. Betting on random janky decks is awesome fun, and it's going well for me so far :D *crosses fingers for Psycho Reservists' success in what will be (I think) the hardest matchup for it in the tournament*
Also... vssystem.com is no longer being updated by anyone other than Kamiza.
I had fully intended to get back in the pool by now, but between hurricanes and elementary school jobs, and lack of interwebs in the house I have not been able to get back on the board. I am paddling as fast as I can.
Too bad I can't get to Realms from school, I have needed to spend my 20 minute lunch hours writing snippets here:

But IMO I think this is the point of the game. Playing with the most popular and epic characters of all time and then beating the ever living snot out of the other epic characters....I can't wait.

I agree with this. There used to be so much more interesting discussion on the Realms before the whole shake-up just because all of the stuff that people have been promoting on their blogs would just have been an individual thread on here instead.
But if that's what it takes to keep the game going, then I'm okay with it.

Yeah I was basically blindsided by the announcement about 15 minutes after I got there that it was City Champs. I was not very happy about that just because I would have brought a deck I was familiar with otherwise.

Unfortunately I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting in on MUN earlier because it seems like a fun, powerful set. I'm probably gonna get some MEV but the characters in it I don't care about much. I mean it's not like we've had enough X-Men sets or anything.
Well, the guys I usually play VS with are pretty limited on time (as am I) these days...I don't think I've played at all since Christmas.
In the meantime I preoccupy that part of my brain with card ideas and designs for a fantasy Doctor Who VS set I'm collaborating on, so I sometimes get a bit antsy when I don't hear back from my collaborator *nudge nudge* :p
- We have our little city championship this august.
- We are laying for the big (I hope) Europe Topurnament at manchester in November
- 3 or 4 new player to teach the game
- Another MUN sealed this weekend
- Casual Golden games
All in all... the usual "dead game" situation here in Italy, you know... :p
We have 2 hobby leagues here to keep us busy with usual attendence of 8 or so. The next 3 weeks are 3 city champs which should then lead into the Clone Marquee a few weeks later.
I think the biggest thing which is troubling me and a lot of the local players is the lack of new cards. We've all built decks with nearly every team (I'm only lacking NZ due to a lack of Thanos) from the past few sets and even though we each play a different deck every week, it's getting quite tiresome and predictable. I am excited to see the rest of the Ultimates cards as I really enjoyed the first 2 archs thus I really want to build an Ultimates deck or even splash mun SHIELD characters or turn it into an Iron Man counter legend. Radioactive Man as Iron Man = so much fun. Alas, I have to wait to see what else is to come from that set, mainly the 2 drop and ideally a card that returns cards from the removed from play zone to hand/deck.
So yeah to summarize, we need new cards and quickly. I'd even be happy if they did another raid type kit. That would at least keep us busy for another month or so until mev previews.
I'm eager to see a new giant sized or other such themed specialty deck... and to have a ude backed event based around said deck.
I'd also be miffed, yeah I said miffed (who knew it was a real word?), if DC is out without ever getting an Ambush Bug card. I'd really love it if VS had a Unglued/Unhinged-esque set, even if it was only a small print run. Maybe with Impossible Man if DC is out.
Some real inventive formats would be great too, like a Bizzaro format where only 4 random sets were announced for use. Maybe a 1985 format where only earlier sets could be used. Perhaps even a Little Guy format where only smaller teams like Shi'ar and Nextwave could be used.
My number 1 thing I'd really like to see though, a Kirkmania set. Featuring all of Robert Kirkman's Invincible universe characters.
