I am both, and I have photographic evidence. I drove this van we painted to all the shows of the late eighties - Dead Kennedys, Butthole Surfers, Meat Puppets:
I thought the moral of the story was "kindness effects more than severity". Obviously, this has little if any application to dealings with a corporation like UDE.
As Stu points out, you can rail at UDE or be as kind as you like, it won't really impact the future of Vs. at all. So, I guess the moral of the story is to rail if you feel like it. Or be kind. It doesn't really matter. But a good rail might make you feel better sometimes. So, rail away my friend! Rail away!

I cannot believe what you typed here Lebeau.
If any of you in the future want to have a successful marriage I would consider putting some of the things Stu teaches into practice otherwise if you guys treat your woman the same way you treat others on this site or even UDE you AIN't gonna be married much longer.
There is a reason Stu has such long lasting friendships & It isn't because he blows his chops in the wind.
Consider the fact of why Stu is happy? Many of the things Stu has been ranting all these years on happiness are Divine principals. It amazes me what form God chooses to relay His messages.
It amazes me what form God chooses to relay His messages.
And it amazes me how beautifully twisted the feedback loop for those messages can be. Every time I think life cannot get more bizarrely blissful in its sublimely chaotic-poetic connections, it does.
Joe, thank you so much, my dear friend. I sorely needed that this morning, your thoughts are deeply appreciated and perfectly timed.
I did not think lebeau's comments were inflammatory, in fact they were very well said. They did not quite catch my perspective, which gives me a chance to explain further. Let's talk about them point by point.

The moral of the story, for me, is more all-encompassing. If you get caught up in "severity", you lose your chance to shine. When dealing with the maddening failings of UDE, it is better to glow about the good things the game has going for it. Not because it will "fix" anything, or "force UDE into getting their act together", or any such limited game plan. Simply because it makes for a happier time with the other players. It enriches all our lives to enjoy the good parts of Vs. System.

Hmmm. That one is deep. "It doesn't really matter." That part is correct. Then comes the railing.
Aesop's fable tells me that railing loses, while glowing wins.

You are correct. What Lebeau said wasn't inflammatory at all it was just his perspecitve. I was shocked at the statement because I think it does matter. Lebeau when I read what you wrote I just wanted to say "your missing it". Lebeau I can see how you think that but if you had a little experience in the matter then I think you may change your mind.
I have been married for a few years now & I have learned in marriage that the more you rail & nit pick your mate you only end up making yourself miserable. Sow & Reap. The only thing the railing does is to put in your head a selfish attitude that you are right. When you guys rail on UDE (which i have been guilty of too) it isn't going to change what happens. However it may change what is inside of you. Now this doesn't mean that it is not therapeutic to discuss, complain, whine, yell or rail. However, your attitude over time can affect your mind & thus allow one to miss the truth & the beauty that under lies everything. Unfortunatly we miss oppertunity's because we want to be right or change something instead of accepting what is. What if every time we rail we cloud our judgement so that it will not see the true path one must go to over come?
Your attitude sets you up for success or failure. Your attitude shapes your entire destiny. Truly our attitude is the only free choice we are really given. So I say that it means everything. What we say & do changes us & I long to shine also.
Stu I appreciate hearing your rants because I know that you came to your conclusions by experience. I have come to the same conclusions you have through the hard knocks of life.
If some one treats their woman the same way people treat UDE they ain't gonna have no woman. Then we wonder why the divorce rate is so high.
When I read threads like this I am reminded that you should never argue with an idiot. They'll just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Hey, at least now you know not to wear a heavy coat on a sunny day.
I didn't really think anyone would take it as a "life lesson". I'm not interested in getting into anything so philosophical when I'm discussing a card game based on comic books.
If I had a point (and I'm not even sure I did) it was just this: even though complaining probably won't accomplish anything with regards to Vs, it's a valid response. You're not any more likely to save Vs. by blowing sunshine. So, if blowing up a storm makes you feel better, go ahead.
Yes, in general I believe that your attitude is the one thing you have control of. And if you choose to be positive and happy, you will be regardless of your circumstances. If you choose to be miserable, the same thing applies. And yes, I'm amazed how many people choose to be miserable. I've done both at some point or another in my life.
But cards are just for fun. You should be able to come on these forum and rant and rail about how much it sucks that <fill in the blank>. Or, if you're me, you can post smart ### interpretations of fables in between assignments at work.
Anyway, be positive. Or don't. It doesn't make one bit of difference to me ;)
