What are the artillery rules now? I haven't kept up on the rule changes and artillery seemed to change weekly at one point. Would be easier to give suggestions if I knew current set up.
I don't think the arty rules changed since the AoD rule book. The AO was another nail in the coffin for artillery. And with the un-retirement, WK vowed not to make anymore artillery in the game as we knew it.
I never really progressed to AoD rules.Game died out here with Falcons Prey, so we never had to learn the AoD rules. My group still uses the Dark Age rules as our base. We have added new rules like pilots and equipment. Some of the AoD rules have been merged with DA if we think it makes more sense. Use the faq for clarificaion. So we use original artillery rules wich means pog damage stacks and one order fires all pogs a unit can fire. I remember several differnt attempts to nerf artillery and gave up trying to keep track.
sigh, wasn't back ordered. wasn't enough made. The company I was going thought only got enough for 1/3rd their pre-orders. Each attempt to find that model (or that cool spacefighter) has met with starting prices at double what the set was or the auction ends too rich for my blood.
going with another option. A huge resin model from Justicar over at LotB.
Oh and to send PMs Vykryl, try clicking my profile name. You should get a menu (view profile/send PM/find more posts/add to contacts) but I'm guessing I can't email you becuase of the low post counts. Don't worry Vykryl. In a few posts you'll have full PMing, posting and start thread options. ;)
I find myself trapped at my in-laws after spending all week planning a MW game for this very weekend, then forced to cancel the game and travel 9 hours over night to their home.
But I digress.
First I love the idea, comstar with big experimental stuff.
I have to agree that 4 targets at 6AP is over kill. Im thinking that at 4 targets 4 damage its still a monster, even without damage SE. Range 6-10 (36) perhaps? In addition I would make the secondary damage very low, say 2 damage perhaps with anti-personel. Range 0-4.
Movement. Make it a quad. Make it slow. Dead slow. 4 for the first one or two, to 3 for another few then 2 for the majority of the dial.
Attack. Like you said start and 10 and drop off quick like with the speed.
Defence. 23 with hardened. The damn thing is big, it is heavy. It should be able to take a pounding. Defense SE quite a way down. Being quad you "could" get hull down bonus if you want to move it.
Heat. Im thinking yellow on the first click, gaining alot of black.
I have read parts of this thread and the one on the cbt website. I have a bunch of units that I don't use and was considering taking them and converting them for use with the cbt game. I noticed that some of you have basically broken down mechs completely and made new (original) styles. Would their be anything wrong with just keeping the existing ones together but just switching them over to cbt or would that just not look right. I know some of the sculpts were changed during wizkids reign.
This is something I am thinking of doing, but not until I have some personal things in order. I would just hate to break alot of these down, but only end up being able to make a few. I am keeping the units I still like to play MW with, but these others are mostly just taking up space.
I have actually considered just removing all of them from the MW bases and setting up some kind of display instead of playing with them. So many ideas in my head.... so little time.
A friend of mine used to take a heat gun and soddering pencil to extra units. Made som cool looking scrap for the battle field - crumpled mechs' tanks with sides blown out' ripped open apc with mangled infantry. I'll have to see if he still has them.
I've taken miscasts, unused game pieces and other ideas and have made Blind Bases (just do a quick search on these forums for pictures) for in game measuring.
Spaceman Spiff takes MW pieces and plays N-scale games. Weither the pieces "look right" doesn't matter, MeGaZiPP. All that maters is you're having fun with your pieces!
I always loved the Tenchi heavy 'mech from Mektek. Basically an Apache on legs. And Fafnir anyone? I'd love to see that in the game. I'd buy a couple, one as a bday gift for my buddy.
