The problem with D. D. Warrior Lady and D. D. Assassin and setting is that, these days, if you Set a monster, the opponent KNOWS you're up to something and will be more cautious and get rid of it, or at least get it revealed before doing anything. They won't go attacking it recklessly unless they'll win the Duel either way.
Also, you're using Magic/"Spell" Striker wrong. It is only able to be Special Summoned by its effect from your hand. Every monster with a Special Summon condition/option must be from your hand unless the card itself specifically states otherwise or another card allows you to.
Ah. Thanks HalfDemon. I actually had used spell striker in a few tournaments, and the judges okay-ed the summon. The funny thing is though, most of the time, people forget that an E-Hero deck will have something like a D.D card, so they attack with abandon.
I also forgot about this card. It isn't something I reccomend having in force, but in a pinch, with the right trap card, it can really win you a duel. A card called "Jowls of Dark Demise" is really helpful. I find that using negate attack or magic cylinder with the card can stop a powerful monster in mid-battle, saving you for another turn, so you can take control and attack directly. I usually bring it out towards the end-game, so it's pretty useful.
Anyway, Thanks for being nice to a newbie. Much appreciated.
Yeah, friendlier local tournaments make stuff easier to use. When it comes to the unforgiving bigger, more competitive tournaments, things are a lot different. Where some things may work in smaller tournaments from time to time, chances are probably almost zero of it working in the bigger tournaments, sadly.
Bigger tournaments are all about speed, speed, speed. Spam out several smaller monsters, Synchro and/or Xyz Summon (or Fusion for those Omni Hero Decks with Super Fusion/Polymerization) and smack the opponent hard in 1 turn before they can get their stuff set-up. Or at least keep them under control for their 1 turn and keep them from pulling their strategy off first. It's why you never really see any slower-paced Decks like Stall Decks or those that require a lot more set-up.
Thanks. I tend to be a slow paced player, but I have to say that these E-hero decks are really changing that. It seems like old players with our feet in the grave are going to have a tough time keeping up as things move along. I'm not one to change up my deck much, so my old decks stay as they are.
I think that the XYZ summons are starting to destroy old decks though... It's kind of sad when you think about what has to be done to "improve" the game. To me, Synchros were bad enough... Before them it took skill to summon powerful monsters... now it's just bumrushing the field. Finding this thread and others like it on here was actually very heartening; however, i fear that i'm diverting the thread from its original course, so, here I end my inquiry.
IMO, Xyzs are a great improvement and are what Synchros should've started as overall rather than liberal and generic monsters they tended to be. Only 4 of them total were Synchro Nomis, "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Synchro Summon", and out of those 4, only 2 actually deserved it (Tech Genus - Halberd Cannon and Shooting Quasar Dragon).
Xyzs can still be quite good if you use them properly, but the effects themselves have limits based on the number of Xyz Materials they have, so no matter how good the effect is, you can only use it so often. Some even have downsides to having no materials left on it like No. 30, Acid Golem of Destruction or No. 17, Revise/Leviathan Dragon. While most of the effects aren't nearly as big as a bunch of the Synchros are, the fact that they started off smaller means they have more room to continuously improve as the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal anime/manga progress and so Xyzs won't end up hitting a "broken boundary line" so quickly like Synchros did.
