I wonder if drafting mono-artifact or near to it will be a thing in set 1... Doppelgadget would require you to have mostly other artifacts in play for it to be worth a 5 drop spot in your draft deck.

I don't really know the final color ratios, but if it's anything like the currently spoiled cards, then you could definitely do a deck with primarily artifacts.
I have a feeling that the final artifact ratio will be lower and not equal to the main 5 making it much harder to draft.
I'm not sure... I mean, it seems to have a lot of cards that combo with an artifact based deck. I wouldn't be surprised if they play a larger role than in MTG.
That'd be really cool - I just feel like they're showing a disproportionate amount of artifacts right now just to show off a bunch. I have a feeling that most of the cards that combo off them are going to be more dwarves and not actually more artifacts.
Hope I'm wrong though - I love artifacts. I really have the need to make a deck centered on Inspiration Engine lol.
Yeah, I think artifacts are a great way to support more variety in decks. With the threshold system, you can have 2-3 colors in your deck with a lower chance of being color-screwed and then any artifacts. That's practically two-thirds of the cards in the game you could consider for any given deck (granted 3+ threshold cards are still fairly hard to play reliably in a 3 color deck)
Speaking of which, I think [cards]Adaptable Infusion Device[/cards] will allow for some awesome deck variety.

Yeah, it's a decent fix with the delayed cantrip and all. With threshold being so much more powerful than just a 1 colored mana in MtG, it's only a problem if the mana cost breaks your tempo. It doesn't return any resources, or increase them for future turns... strictly threshold.
Could be interesting too if you want to splash one random card into a deck.
Makes me wonder what the highest threshold card will be - up until now I don't remember anything past three and we've seen cards that cost 7, so that's a lot of threshold out there that's not doing anything/is useless...

Except for cards like [cards]Radiant Armor[/cards].
I like that they give people the ability to have a lot of colors, but include cards that work well with single colored decks.
Could be. I really hope these off the wall mechanics are done in combination with forcing you to use basically the same deck through multiple encounters. It won't really be much fun to build a "get to 20 threshold deck", and then switch to your "all fliers deck", and then the "stall deck to make it to turn 20", etc. Much better in my opinion to force a deck to handle lots of different situations.

I like [cards=hex]General's Tent[/cards] but I haven't really thought through it. Also kind of figuring I would always pick Assassination. 10 direct and unblockable damage to a champ seems better than three 3/3, or destroy all attacking creatures. I suppose if you had 3 or more prep counters on it and weren't tapping it, you could send the message that it's a "destroy all attacking creatures" plan whether it was or not? The unused prep counters would also remain for whatever plan you picked next when you did finally crack it.
