Reed seems to be a victim of expectations.
The long-range outwit might not fit into his 'get in close and fight' dial, but he can use outwit up close just fine, too, and maybe he has a teammate waaaay over there that can use some help against whatever they're fighting.
20D close, plasticity to help keep the enemy close. Opens with some good attack and decent damage values and quake. Considering that trait that prevents enemies from moving except during move actions, he could play an interesting game of knocking back enemies, them having to take a move to get back in, and then him knocking them back again.
No HSS, no charge, no sidestep, no running shot. Not even if they want to go elsewhere.
Then on the back half of the dial he has CCE and steal energy. Now he's able to get those hits in and keep himself in the fight with greater efficiency.
It's an interesting take, but it's there.
But I mentioned the "Return Of The Fantastic Four" trait earlier, and it's a big part of these dials.
Leadership on every Fantastic character within 4 squares? That creates a whole lot of potential token removal.
This is a to me, and with enough Fantastic friends it gets another.
Sue is a little different.
She doesn't get the "Return of the FF" trait, instead keeping her standard "Form the New FF" trait.
She does, however, offer stealth and stealth-busting to adjacent characters that share one of her keywords, of which there are several in the set. So that's not bad, especially if you find a long-range friend that can snipe (and the SHIELD TA will help them even more).
Because offensively, this is not the Sue that you are looking for.
This is a support Sue all the way, but not even a traditional support Sue.
So maybe here I am making her a victim of my expectations, but I go with Saturnflight here.
I give her in sealed, but I think in constructed she is going to be much more valuable on some Avengers, SHIELD, and spy teams.
Johnny just keeps on getting more.
His "Return of the FF" trait gives his Fantastic friends within 4 squares enhancement. Side-by-side with a Nova or another Johnny it's +1 damage for both when making ranged attacks. Not bad.
Otherwise he opens with 3 clicks of RS/Pulse wave and closes with 4 clicks of HSS.
Start him at 60 and you lose the first two clicks. Still a fair price, I think.
For most of his dial, he and his adjacent friends take no damage from EE or poison, so clustering together doesn't carry as much risk as it might otherwise, so more potential enhancement fun.
His speed value is plenty high enough that if you have had him sticking together with someone else, he can easily fly far enough away to pulse wave without getting them in the blast.
Ben is fine.
He doesn't have any natural 4s, unlike the uncommon, but he's got four clicks of super strength and a trait to help with that, and potentially Alicia, too. Alicia is tricky, though.
His "Return of the FF" trait grants empower, so paired up with a Fantastic friend that isn't afraid to get up close let's him hit for 4 steady. Maybe one of the Johnnys carried him up and they position themselves so Ben is enhancing Johnny while Johnnny empowers Ben. Different ways to go, but friends help.
Alicia, though... You want to keep her close to buff Ben. Her support could come in handy. Her healing Ben to full when she is KOed could come in handy.
But if she gets KOed right off the bat Ben gets the +1 speed, attack, and damage boost without having to spend time moving her around to keep those bonuses in play, so it ain't all bad.
That closing special is the stuff of legend, however.
On the last click, if you can manage to get him there, he can swing a 13 attack, 6 damage attack that deals penetrating damage and that can not be shape changed or super-sensed out of.
But that is just potential.
Realizing that is going to be a different matter.
And when you use it, even if on the much more modest click #s 5 and 6, the Thing is KOed, so you had better make sure that you are going to get your points worth out of it.
This is a fussy figure. It requires care. It requires management. Alicia can eat your actions while trying to make this piece work better.
But he's a tough figure. He has either an 11 or 10 for attack down the dial. He should, between Alicia, his trait, and his super strength, be able to swing for 4+ at least as often as he swings for 3.
I think Hydroman's special smoke cloud will get a lot of use in this set. There are plenty of soft defenses that won't deal with his poison well.
Bartok is going to be on soooooo many of my teams going forward. 100% a 5 shield figure, and add another shield if you pull a general in your other booster.
