It is very irritating that they are recycling old pictures on the WizKids site. I know some of the AE bases have been changed but you can't tell from looking online.

True, but atleast he's MUCH more reasonably priced. He'll only be placed in SS theme teams, but atleast he will even be considered for those teams. As it was, he was just HORRIBLY overpriced in light of his poor playability.
He is probably the worst of the bunch, but he's 10 times better than the IC Hobs.

Close Combat
A close combat action represents up-close, hand-to-hand fighting.
Your character has to be in a square next to an opposing character
(this is called being adjacent) to make a close combat attack.Note that flying and nonflying characters can’t make close combat attacks against each other.

Am I reading this wrong or something? Maybe it's just lack of sleep? (It's 3:30 AM here right now and I've only had 2 hours of sleep).
Bace, I'd guess that line should say "soaring figures" instead of "flying" Yet again, WK apparently cuts costs on QA before releasing a new product.
The Universe starter figures are all sweet, even hobgoblin -- he's the first relatively cheap flier for the Syndicate -- but can someone explain how Wasp keeps 2 damage for her entire dial?

Does a critical hit count as a modifier in terms of calculating for the rule of 3? It says in the glossary that a modifier is any number that alters combat value, damage dealt, or damage taken.
AlgertMan, it look slike the X-mansion map from the Marvel map set.
From the Universe Rulebook, page 5:
"Play a couple of games with the six superheroes included. Now imagine how many more options you’d have and how much more fun it would be if The Hulk™, Magneto™, and The Fantastic Four™ joined the battle! Look for Marvel HeroClix Booster Packs in stores near you. They contain randomly inserted, prepainted superhero fi gures ready to battle right out of the box!"
Some newcomers are going to be quite disappointed . . .
