Tbh, I really don't care if you "still had a good time" when the event is only like an hour or two away. Not to be especially rude to the people saying it, but I don't think that's really in question. If the trips going to only be a mild inconvenience, then of course you'll have fun playing some Clix and getting Con LEs. But it was still run terribly from those I've heard from.
With how much money, time, and dedication goes into this from the players venturing across the country, professionalism and organization shouldn't be considered a courtesy or privilege...it should be considered an expected inclusion with your purchase. The cut to two rounds on day 2 is so insane. With 33+ players, you not only had to go 2-0, you needed good points. Assuming they didn't extend Top 16 as well. So if you travelled to go to one of the WKOs, won, and got your reserved spot in Day 2? Well, you could apparently go out to MD, win your only 2 games for the main event and still not make it in.
That just doesn't seem right. Nothing against the winning player or anything, but at what point do event organizers #### up an event enough to take away the prestige (EPISODE 10 OUT NOW) of that event?
It's just painful hearing about this with: a. how well the West Coast ROC events are run, b. West Coast still getting snubbed by WK, and c. West Coast players expected to travel across the country for that kind of service/organization.
There were 32 players on day 2. After two rounds there would be 8 undefeated players. So the last 8 players would be 1-1.
Kennie went 1-1 in the top 32 to make the top 16 where he ended up winning.

TBH I don't see how you can complain about something you didn't even attend. All your complaints are based off hearsay of players who are probanly just butt hurt they didn't win.

Where are people getting that there were more than 32 people in the final event? From what I've been reading here and on facebook, there were only 32 people in the finals. Can someone direct me to a post from someone that was actually there that confirms that there were more than 32 people in the finals?

I was there. Top cut was 32 players.

Why on earth would they do two rounds of swiss if there were exactly 32 players?
I don't know. I wasn't paying attention to the finals very much. I assumed it was due to logistics. They were renting space and had certain time constraints.

Hasn't it always been 2 rounds of Swiss and then cut to tops 16? I was at World's last year and I thought that's how they did it there too? I only played battle royales, so I'm not really sure, but that's what I assumed.

The top 32 onward is supposed to be single elimination. I think they even promised this in their Nationals announcement. Of course when I search for the announcement on Heroclix.com, it is nowhere to found on the WK site.

That was because they let 34 players into the championship, due to a math error.
The misspelled "Wizkids" is a perfect example of complaining for the sake of complaining. It's a typo buried in legal text notifying participants of filming, but it was made out of be some horrendous embarrassment rather than a small mistake.
We give more weight to the things that support our opinion and discount the things that don't.
"Oh, they misspelled their own name!? Just goes to show you I was right!"
"Oh, people still had a good time? Well, that means it was in spite of WK not because of them..."
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
Are there posts from previous years here that mention how the events were run before as far as the finals are concerned? It'd be nice to get all the facts before forming an opinion on whether or not a player was actually screwed over with having 2 rounds of Swiss and then cutting to top 16.

I have not heard a single complaint from anyone who made the top 32. I don't think it was an issue with them at all.
Troll King is a reference to the previous RA (the new RA is Chris FYI) Brian Rupp. Some people had some issues with him, others did not... Go figure that could happen on Realms

So that means, if it was single elimination (which is what I was told by a wizkids rep) then I would've never lost to Kennie in top 16 and I would be the champion! I vote for an asterisk next to his championship title!
EDIT: Again sorry...found email and it didn't say what format so I was insane for thinking single elim.

It was to me only for the fact I was told there was no swiss and planned my flights accordingly. Granted I didn't make it far enough for that to matter but that could've been a $400 change (the only tickets left on the late flight was $400 more expensive)
