That may be the case, and I respect your opinion. However, what is basically wrong about BvS is what Snyder started doing in Man of Steel. Instead of portraying heroes according to their source characterizations, Snyder made a Batman/Superman movie that has little or nothing to do with their personalities and motivations. It was a hollow slugfest.
I'm not gonna go off on a fanboy rant (because I do admit that I am a fanboy.) Superman is supposed to represent high ideals and hope, not be a killer and a destroyer of human lives and property. Batman is supposed to represent implacable justice that works in the darkness, not a one-man army with more guns, artillery, and ordnance than a battalion.
(And Batman having no problem with shooting bad guys and using branding irons on them? I'm not even gonna continue.)
Personally, I didn't like any of the movie except for the title fight. Mostly for the same reasons as you.
Rokk_Krinn- "Telling the truth and sticking by it always looks clumsier because it's not a pre-planned malice."
OK, so once again I am in between TV series. Any recommendations from my mafia brethren? I'd prefer to keep it a relatively short series that doesn't require a whole lotta commitment.

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
Only one season so far, and all around fantastic.

Not sure if you've seen it or not (I'm shocked to find how many people haven't), but Rick & Morty is top notch humor.

Fate/Zero and Samurai Champlo are both pretty rockin if you like action anime that's not written specifically for children. 25 episodes a pop. The former is Hunger Games/Avengers Arena/Battle Royale with mages and legendary heroes in Tokyo instead of teens in the wilderness. The later is like a good samurai movie with a hip hop noir twist and Wolverine voices one of the main characters.
Daredevil is really good. Also 25 episodes.
There are some decent sitcoms on Netflix but they're all like 18 seasons long and jump the shark at some point. Every thriller show on Netflix I've watched has the same problem.
Archer's fantastic but it's long. 85 episodes. There's not much continuous plot so it's not like you'd miss out by stopping halfway through.

This doesn't necessarily fit your short series thing but I just started watching the Clone Wars animated series... only a couple episodes in, but it's pretty solid so far.
My local group seems to have fizzled again and I'm looking for a pen/paper fix, even if it's digital. I checked Roll20 out years ago, but popped back in today and it looks much more user friendly.

It's not bad, very good for map based stuff but not great for lots of chat. At least to me.

Cool. Yeah, the interface looks very clean and easy to use for the most part. Not sure I'd feel comfortable jumping right into DMing a game, but as a player it looks pretty smooth.
Any experience with joining up with random groups? Seems like there's a lot of open games (at least in my cursory glance at the Pathfinder games) and I'm sure not all of them are winners, heh.
On another note, does anyone here play on there? Anyone looking for a wayward adventurer?

We use Skype for chat and Roll 20 for maps and character sheets. gfish and I do. Roll 20 is great except for the audio.

gfish and I have a game on there and we're full up right now. Lots of open games from what I've seen though. It may take you awhile to build a rep as a good player/DM, but the games are there. Do you have any previous RL players who are already on there? That's how gfish and I started playing again.

I don't think I know any RL players on there, but I've played with a lot of different groups over the years thanks to travel so it's possible
If a slot ever open up in your game let me know, would love to roll dice with some of you guys.
Its a little clunky at first, but with practice you can do a lot of interesting things swiftly and easily.
GMing: -
- lots of cool toys, but some work better in theory than in practice, like enforce line of fire.
- I prefer fog of war, as it lets people look back at where they have been, which can be important for multiple path situations.
- Some of the formulas can get screwy and skew at times, but I've only noticed it once or twice.
- Some players do not program everything their character can do into roll20, which I find annoying as hell -- I program in ALL of my monsters, NPCs, maps, tokens, etc. The least they can do is add the fireball spell for easy casting and reference.
DO NOT USE INTERNAL CHAT/VIDEO, its super laggy. Go into settings and disable voice in/out and video in/out, then minimize the faceplates to name only. You will thank me.
Use skype instead. Or Google chat (separately from roll20).
Player specific:
- Add everything in somewhere. Add in sufficient detail, and toy with it a couple of times to make sure it casts right. If you take the time to load in your fireball or whatever, casting is as easy as clicking a button.
- Careful of double stacking bonuses: Roll20 automates a LOT of things, so cast the spell and swing the attack as a trial several times to see if your attack / saves bonuses are calculated correctly.
- Know where your crap is and get to it swiftly. Its not difficult to remember where your attack / spells / HP / class abilities are. Remember where they are.
GM SPECIFIC:
- There are 4 layers on the maps that GMs can access: a map layer, object layer (PCs only can interact with this), a dynamic lighting layer (too much work, imo), and a GM Notes layer (which is super fantastic for keeping track of notes, hiding enemies until they spring, dropping invisible characters, etc)
- Draw out your own maps using the drawing tools. Very easy and super customizable.
- You can find a lot of premade maps. Don't use them. They generally have a grid already attached, and that can muck up your prearranged stuff. Altering and resizing is a bit of a pain for premade maps. IF YOU DO USE THEM, turn off the grid function in the settings tab, which will solve a lot of problems.
- When placing, resizing, or moving objects, or drawing things, hold alt to snap it to the grid. It makes drawing things VERY easy once you get used to it.
- Map items and objects can be layered oddly, but you have an option of sending a highlighted object to the front or back. At first, this is very frustrating. After a while, its super easy.
