i use cerebro until i get my curve, once i have all the drops i need in my hand, i stop.
you need to start early, other wise, the chances of you hitting a drop on the turn you need it, with just those 2 cards, is slim.
hehehe maybe I was wolverine in a past life thats why we dont see eyes to eye. :)
I play a tight game but somehow manage to get the drops I need of course if I dont have a drop I will use cerebro I think I wasnt clear of you misunderstood me. If I have my drop I will not use it. If I dont have my drop I will dig with it. I wont dig unless I need characters for gambit, sunfire, power up or COTA.
I was thinking of replacing Cerebro with Weapon of Choice. How would WOC benefit Colossus? The chosen character gets shuffled back in. Cerebro is a staple of you run Colossus.
Weapon of Choice is a good possible card in the fact that X-Men have a lot of win/win scenerios with characters.
2 - Slim/Kurt Wagner
4 - Rogue/Gambit
5 - Sunfire/Angel of Death/Scott Summers
6 - Colossus/Emma/Storm/Rogue
Not so much on 7, unless you run Mag-inzo.
8 - Mental Master and Phoenix (however you would have to run Marvel Girl, or a possible 3 Phoenix Force.

As an additional cost to play WOC discard 2 cards. They could be the 1 or 2 that you need to help pump up the big guy.
7 drop could be wolvie or prof. x. both good cards. just need to fit in whatever the design of your deck is. Also for 5 drop wolverine is a bugger cuz you can keep him around. If I used him and gambit running 7 drop Prof. X would be good with press the attack.
I forgot about the cost...I stand corrected. However with most X-Men needing X-men character discards for most of their effects, as well as COTA, could it be that effective? The character discard is the one reason I use Emma w/ PA Rogue.
Everything in life is situational including VS. I go games not using any of my discard cards and I have colossus in hand just itching to get bigger. That card regardless of its cost is great.
The Xmen have more than one useful character on each drop so WOC is a good one.

no i see where you are coming from.
but lets say it is turn 4, you have drawn 12 cards so far,you have not use cerebro all game, and you have no 4 drop, you cerebro and need to find a 4 drop in those top two cards.
the chances of you finding a 4 drop, when you run 6 of them, in the top 14 cards, 12 drawn normally, and 2 with your cerebro, is not that bad. but it is worse odds versus finding a 4 drop in your top 18 cards.
i cerebro from the beggining getting my hand full of my entire curve. once i hit that, and i have 5 guys in the ko pile, i stop.
but as i said before, if your luck is better than mine, you won't need to do this.
Once I get outta work, I'm gonna try working around 3x 'bros and 3x WOCs. I used to use Colossus religously, and I must bring me back to his former "Big Red" glory.
If I take out my Moiras, which I admit I've never really gotten much out of, I can add more higher drop splashes, and get more use out of 'bro and WOC.
I have to say I wasn't a big fan of cerebro until lately.
It does play into the type of deck you run because if you run it, you might as well run Colossus, just because:ermm:
It does get you through you deck pretty quickly though
I combined it with LongShot, and it i got them fist turn, I could cycle thru my deck by turn 8:grin:
i have to say now I live by it, but once I curve out I stop, unless i need colossus big.
Your right cyke but I run 6 4drops. So the number game is not that bad. And granted I want a 4 on turn 4 but if I have to I run a 3 or bishop versus a a ranged character moves up to a 3.
I see what your saying and thats the risk I take. Just like the risk you take by using cerebro all the time you could bury a critical card on the bottom. But thats the game we play. Man isnt it great? :)
At the expense of very useful cards you could ( and I dare call you foolish) ;) could use cards like base of operations, night vision to really lower the risk of cerebro.
But the Xmen train in the danger room not the safety room. hehe. This is a game of chance and numbers. Mostly chance, of course you need to have strategy but if you have the cards its all about the luck of the draw.
sorry about madtitanfan, we got sidetracked by debating things.
i like your deck, when i first saw your charachter curve, i was like<" that is all you got for a dicard deck? no emme'a no 5 drop cuck, no roguePA?
but then i noticed your plot twist and equipment. and i like the strategy alot. discard does not win games, it just helps your beatdown do it.
so you can smash them and make them discard at the same time, very nice. as long as you can deal damage in the first place, so stall and control decks, might give you fits, but other than that look good.
i would love to hear some testing results
does the chain really work for? how often do you make them top deck? and the main question, can it beat titans and CS?

IMHO. I feel that discard (granted Xmen has more than most) is not the best suited strat. for mono x men. You need to splash other teams in and try to make it more stallish.
With discard you should try to keep board control so by you emptying your enemies hand he cant play anymore drops.
I proly would say that AI would be a good match up for that.
Im not saying a mono x discard cant work! I just havent put much thought into it. I might get yelled at this but I would use puppet master. He will help you in the long run. Granted hes not discard but once you start controlling the board he will help you finish off any straglers buy letting you attack in force on your int.
