Big Burn, huh? I don't have the pleasure of owning one, so I can't say I really know how well it works. Has anyone seen waldo lately? I just noticed that I haven't seen a post from him on this thread in a while. But still, Big Burn... Wow, that thing could be dangerous, especially if what I've heard about the return of bazoo is true.
Big Burn is a devastating effect. The problem is it relies on what your opponent does, in order to activate. Yes, its likely that there will be effects, from Bazoo and Chaos Sorcerer to Premature and Kurogane, that will attempt to remove cards from the Graveyard. But, you also have to actually have Big Burn set and ready to go, when that happens. That is not alway a possibility.
All Im saying is: Like it, love it, try it out; but do it with a grain of salt.
Waldo has recently made the transition from city boy to Mr. Suburbia. That along with being his first year of marraige means that his schedule is probably full already. Occasionally, you will see him online, or a post here and there. But he is putting more of a low profile for the moment.
Yeah, Waldo also mentioned to me a while back that he's in process of getting another computer. So in the meantime he has to mooch Internet time when he can. You may have noticed that he posted a nice article on equip cards recently, so hopefully that's a good sign of seeing him online more.
I'm not 100% sure if Bazoo would be a valid trigger for Big Burn. The removing of cards from the graveyard I think is more of a nontargeting effect. I was thinking more of the Premie/Call effects, the Spiritual Art effects and a few others. Still, they NEVER see it coming 99% of the time and their face just drops 8^D
My bad. I should have double-checked the rulings before posting. The first one states:
Quote
You can only activate "Big Burn" when an EFFECT that removes monsters in the Graveyard is activated. So you can't activate "Big Burn" when a player removes monsters in the Graveyard as a COST to Special Summon "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning", "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End", or to activate the effect of "Strike Ninja" or "Freed the Brave Wanderer". Nor can you use "Big Burn" when monsters are removed for a condition.
I stand corrected. You can appreciate how this makes using Big Burn even more difficult than before.
In keeping with the fiendish tradition of last year (and thanks to John Danker for the inspiration), I humbly present my christmas present to you this year, loyal fiendish duelists...
Treat the words in () as echos....now sing along!
You know Sangan, and Sillva, and Kozaky, and Mefist...
Mimic, Kuriboh, Dark Balter, Spear Cretin.
...but do you recall?
the most famous Fiend of them all?
Yata the red-beaked Fiend (fiend),
had a very foul effect.
and if you ever played it (played it),
people scooped their hands and left.
All of the fiendish others (others),
used to laugh and call him names (like Don Zaloog!).
They never let poor Yata (Yata),
play in any fiendish games. (like Metamorphosis!)
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
the Dark Ruler came to say,
"Yata with your effect so grand,
please abuse it and get banned!"
Then how the fiendish loved him, (loved him)
as they shouted out with glee. (yippee!)
Yata, the red-beaked Fiend, (fiend)
only banned Fiend in history!
Yeah, Sangan was on the list too, but I think that was more of a temporary gig where I doubt we'll see Yata EVER coming back. 8^D Maybe I'll just swap it a smidge to be the first banned fiend in history. I believe he was one of the originals and then Sangan came in later when they dropped Witch too...
wish I could help you there, Des~ but unfortunately, I have gotten irritated with proxying decks, when I have so many cards and projects already, just screaming to be put together. So, until I actually get some Goldd and Broww monsters, Im not going to even attempt a DW deck.
so has any one else tried out any lava golmn tactics with the current format? i've got a really unique golemn skill drain deck thats having a sprising amount of success and was wondering if theres any tactics out there that i missed or if anyone might have come across new ones with newer cards.

I don't see quite how Lava Golem is going to work with Skill Drain in any useful manner. All you will be doing is stopping your opponent from burning, unless you plan on Creature Swapping for your own Golem, but that seems a little too difficult to use effectively.
