My alternative is that a failed action still shows up on tracking.

MD doesn't explain how I could have gotten a failed message on a night she got a result of me targeting somebody.

Ok, so grizzz claims to have failed in his action and yet you get him targeting someone. Based on mal's clarification regarding tracking, he should not have shown on any results and yet you claim he did.

These are the three likeliest scenarios I think:
A) Truffles is Mafia, and this is an elaborate ruse. A RUSE I SAY!
B) I'm Mafia, and everything I've said is a lie and confusion sowing.
C) Mafia has a role that can cover their killer's tracks with another player. This may or may not also block that player's action at night.

I'm leaning towards C because I know that my role says I am town and win with the town, and I think it's way too early for this aggressive of a play from the Mafia.

C is intriguing, but it requires a certain amount of faith from the town as a collective. The problem with leaving you alive to "demonstrate" a power is exactly that, you demonstrating a power. And especially with the Vig outed and no dead mafia that we know of, they are at full force which means a greater chance they have a power set to both protect their own and messing with the Vig who would likely target you should you survive the day.

A is a ballsy play and way too early, especially if Truffles were scum and you were town.

You see why B is a very plausible and likely scenario.

A shapeshifter, which surprisingly isn't in the glossary or I would have pasted the definition from there, is someone who can appear as someone else in the write up when making the kill, additionally all results would be the person the shapeshifter used.

I'm surprised how many people are ignoring this. But of course the mafia would want to keep that under wraps as long as possible. As far as I can tell, IF Grizz is telling the truth, that would be the only explanation.
