I was finally able to win a Multiple Man lot. I won a lot that contained 1 Vet., 5 Rookies, and 4 Pogs. So, I am super pumped. I cannot wait to field this team. I tried once before with an REV team plus the pog and it just wasn't the same.
Are the prize listings on the Atlanta comic con web site correct?
I am going to go out on a limb and say....no. The reason I say this is that I was told by Steve that Wizkids had told him that they could not send Fooms or Con exclusives to this convention because this convention was not announced by Wizkids at the start of the con as having Fooms. I know this sounds odd and I wrote it more complicated than it really is but Wizkids only sends to conventions they have announced as having a particular item.
Steve was hoping to get Fooms and I bet he put that up a little prematurely. I will ask him tommorrow and confirm.
The Atlanta Comics Expo folks asked very early on what kind of events we were going to run for this weekend, and we said with more hope than assurance, "well, we hope to have Fooms, Thors and Dark Knights." The ACE folks ran with that, and after multiple requests to remove these listings, we still haven't seen a change. I've notified our regional L5, necrodog, of the discrepancy, and we've posted the event descriptions all we can.
I don't generally spend time on this site, so I'll post what I posted in the HeroClix: Players & Approved Play and Southeast Envoy sections on the WK Forums:
Taking place over the April 21st weekend, the Atlanta Comics Expo is managed by the same folks that run Dragon*Con, and as a WK-Supported convention, we've scheduled a series of events for the convention goers as an added treat. There are no entry fees for these events, other than the paid membership fee for the con.
The prizes for these events have yet to be received, but we expect a selection of "oldies but goodies". Since this is not a WK-Attended convention, we will not have the 2007 convention exclusives. Once the prizes have been received, we will post them to each of the event descriptions.

The fact that no one understands you doesn't mean you're an artist.
If you would like. I will probably only play in one event if any at all. I will not get there until about 2:30 because I have class on Saturday. It really depends on what you want from the tourney you play in. If you want to have fun play a theme team. If you want to win play a LAMP team or a suped up Black Adam team. A Green Lantern Tank team could work or a Thunderbolts team where the old Antman gives everyone a 20 defense. There are several possibilities.
Since I should be getting all of my Multiple Man figures this week I might play an all Multiple Man team. I will lose but it should in theory be fun. Plus, I really want to field them all.
Thought I would leave a report from the Atlanta Comics Expo. First off it was very small. This is not that bad of a thing because it is easily navigable and you don't have to fight people to get up to the booths to look for prizes. I hope that this continues to grow. I think that it has real potential. Atlanta is definitely a large enough city to hold a full scale comic convention. Hopefully, in the future it will grow to that kind of size. But, I thought it was fun. For those interested in autographs there were several people there signing. I would not have minded staying to watch some of the movies but I have seen them all and own most of them as well so ultimately it was pointless.
The gaming room was a humble size but there were a handful of players so there is definite room for growth. The Vs. tournament seemed to have a good turnout so it seems to be a thriving community. Unfortunately, the prize support was missing and the people working the con seemed to busy to track it down. Also, on a much sadder note some of the packs of heroclix that were donated by a very kind vendor (The gaming pit in Duluth, which by the way has a great owner, tons of product, and good prices) turned up missing. I think the total was 6 packs that walked off on their own. This is pretty pitiful. I have grown to dislike thievery of the years. For example, at the con I accidentally grabbed 4 books that were just lying around. They weren't anything too great. They were Young Avengers #1, some book called Deathscape, and another book with what looked like a wartime zombie. But, I felt really bad and took them back. I knew that it would not have hurt the owner's had I kept them but I did not want to be the brunt of some sort of karmic turnaround. Plus, when I took them back the girl working the booth did not even care. She took the books and went back to crocheting. But, I feel better that I did it and that is what matters. Now, back to the main issue. These packs were not great. They consisted mostly of Hypertime, Icons, Infinity Challenge, and a smattering of Collateral Damage, and Fantastic Forces. Hardly worth the trouble of petty larceny. Certainly, what goes around comes around and this individual will get his just desserts.
Back, on the bright side once again, I was able to find several books that I wanted. I have always wanted to read the X-Tinction Agenda and I was able to find every issue for $15. I also found several other books that I was looking for or that tickled my fancy at the time. Plus, Dylan gave me a Green Lantern shirt. So, it was a great time for the $10 to get in and I got to hang out with some good people and see a few folks that I enjoy talking to but see only on very rare occasions. So, if you read this and the opportunity presents itself maybe you should head on down there tommorrow and see what you can find. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
I also had a good time at the Con even though I detest competitive heroclix tournaments at times. I decided to play on a lark and first round-alt FF with a 2099 Hulk to boot. This very strategic team walked up to the center map and sat there as I took pot shots. It's a good thing that they brought 2 prob controllers because I was nailing that 19 D (sarcasm noted). Anyway, that's my own gripe and doesn't fault anyone but me. My opponent was a nice guy.
Also, I joined the $5 Lois lane club today as I pulled the chase figure in a draft ( a few origins boosters made it to the Con due to the terminally nice Steve McFarland).

I like this club it is very exclusive. Plus, I am in it so it seems even more awesome.
I forgot to mention the other day the panel that I saw at the Comic convention that I thought was so funny. It was a panel about Asian culture. Actually, there were several ranging from Oragami to Asian Erotica. But, I did not see a single asian person person on the panel. Not that I don't think white people can learn about Asian culture. But, it is different to read a book about it and actually live it. Take me for example. Now, that we have moved in with my parents-in-law I have great less and less fond of Asian cuisine. Maybe it is because we have rice every meal or I have had what we normally eat several times, or perhaps I am just bitter because they tried to eat my dog. Whoa!!!! Just kidding, they haven't tried to eat Aubie yet. But, if the panel is about Japanese people and their moral depravity I want a little Japanese man sitting on the panel so he can tell me and everyone in the audience that he has in fact paid 500 yen to beat a sheep to death with an oversized bottle of Sing-Toa beer and then have sex with it. Then I can say, "Damn, that mother####er's wild!!!!!" But, I am not given that option when 3 whiteguys are sitting in the front of the room telling people about authentic Asian culture.
Wu-Tang 4 Life!!!!
Also, for those who play at Champions they have enacted a pay-to-play policy. I am not sure when this starts. But, it is $3 per person. This really is not so bad. But, it is money I did not have to spend before so it might turn me away. We will see. It shouldn't bother me though since I robbed his ### blind last time I was there and got a $5 Lois Lane. Hahahahahhahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys I got an email today about sales at iconsusa.com for heroclix. I clicked on the link and it took me to a site that had a picture of a Superman clix that I have never seen. Have any of you seen this and if so do you have any info on it.

Photoshop at it's best. They are not real. The Hulk is Bowen's latest statue. Supergirl is a new Japanese vinyl statue import, and I believe the Superman image is from the Alex Ross, Justice comic.
But just think if they were. If the Superman sculpt was representative of the quality of the new figures, $10/box would be well worth it.
