Remember when there was Crimson Skies, Mage Knight, Heroclix Shadowlands & Creepy Freaks. How did that work out from them?
Nothing like competing with yourself.
I've heard of Mage Knight, but never heard of the others. I've only been into gaming for a few years now, but it does seem like NECA/Wizkids is trying to compete with themselves. What happened with those other companies?
So it's not a unique situation at my venue of stores having to sit on product right now. So will the reverse be true for Hulk because stores will be a little shy about ordering more product? Will there be any kind of backlash on NECA?
No. The monster is feeding, alliance/Diamond buy the majority of the product produced so the backlash will start out on them first, well that is if D/A thinks its a fluke and dosnt heed and buys out next time to. But, WK will hardly if ever feel the pain of sets under selling. They make their true dolla from A/D.

Those are ALL Wk produced games, a few went under due to rules changes and a couple others had to small of audiences..

I haven't seen a statement from NECA that they continued the production level increase they'd been doing from set to set when it came to the move from Superman to Hulk. Knowing that it's a smaller set size (and so will presumably be easier to collect) may have given them reason to hold back on the production level, or to at least not run higher than they have with Superman.
There's too much we don't know about how much of the production run went straight through Alliance and Diamond and how much to other wholesalers.
There's no way to avoid either over-saturation or starvation of the market with each set. It's just going to be a matter of degree. I'd argue that leaving the fans wanting more is probably the better move from the perspective of the company and the retailers, but as that leads to larger orders (as retailers don't want to have to tell their customers they can't get something for them) it eventually leads back to a glut of product as increased orders meet a set that ends up having lower demand than its predecessor.
Could any of this be because NECA is a toy company and not a gaming company (I thought I heard that)? Are they trying to use toy-industry practices that won't work in a gaming industry?

This is my feeling, at least to a certain extent. Particularly when you look at things like the TRU colossals.
Longest-Reigning Drunken HeroClix Champion - anyone got a liver?
I think it had more to do with GoW and Halo had different rules for Epic actions and granades. Since Street Fighter didn't have that machanic built in, it was simple to make it modern.
As LoTR's also has the Epic mechanic in its rules, I assume that it will follow the GoW/Halo ruling and not be modern age.
I don't remember any Halo figs with Epic actions. But I do remember Double Power Actions. Street Fighter has those too.
I have had similar experiences playing against Jonna. I just wish I had more opportunities to play again my northern Illinois friends and family. I'd gladly take a regular beat down in order to get to game with you guys more often.
We Northern Illinois people feel the same way. . .

Right. Epic is only LotR, but GoW and Halo have the grenade mechanic, which is different from the normal sets.
Double power actions are part of the normal rules (see: Unsold Massu signature figure), so that wouldn't exclude them from the modern age. Though some may want to exclude Massu from some of the posts I have seen.
