My father isn't. Reaganomics MADE him. He went from a High School Dropout to a Successful Small Business Owner to comfortably retired. He couldn't have done it without Reagan's policies.
The Soviet Union isn't waiting for the trickle either.
Okay, question for you all...is that Tony Stark's dad in the Captain America trailer? It sounds like he tells Stark to pull the lever when they are making Steve into "Captain America" but I can't tell...he also sort of looks like Tony Stark :-/

Today as with yesterday I waited too long to get a good meal in. prompting me to eat it too quickly (and so wasting the matter that it was good food) and start to go into hibernation soon afterwards. It's the latter I'm fighting at the moment.
I did get out to see THOR this afternoon, and partially as a matter of timing and otherwise one of curiosity I made this the first digital 3D movie I'd seen.
The 4D worked well, but in rolling back over the film I don't know that I can think of instances where it genuinely enhanced the experience, but I won't damn it. I could see where someone would become accustomed to it, and a 2D film might then seem, well... flat.
A few of the previews were in 3D, too, and I was almost amazed that the most shameless "Comin' At Ya!" one was the latest in the upcoming PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise. This reminded me of several of the 3D films from the '50s, where they went out of their way to move things toward the camera and then move them side to side. It makes for largely unnatural actions.
Anyway, I enjoyed the movie, though it afforded almost no surprises. I'm not in the mood to go for a spoiler-free review, though, so I'm just going to let it roll over in my mind a little longer.
I know it was something noted once the casting and early trailers came along, so I don't have any compunctions about saying that as far as I could casually tell Asgard ended up with one Black man in it... and they made him a glorified doorman/elevator operator.
There are plenty of points in the movie that I have comments on, but, again, I'm aware that many/most here haven't seen it yet and I don't want to ruin anything. In the meantime I'll get some notes down as I know I'll be writing something up at least for the June zine.
Jumping back to the trailers, one unfortunate reversal was that prior to seeing the trailer for it I was expecting that COWBOYS AND ALIENS would be one of the movies I'd want to see this summer. (Keep in mind I've never read the comics its based on, and only know it from the concept seed.) Having seen the trailer... not so much now. I think what turned me off the most was not only working in a "mysterious stranger" (Daniel Craig) with alien tech, but having to bring in at least one other character (a woman) who ends up being part of an alien race that was largely wiped out by whoever the invaders were.
I really, really, really just wanted to see it be normal human beings in the Old West having to deal with some sort of alien incursion. The screenwriters just would have had to play with it a little bit, either by giving the aliens some more delicate mission parameter or simply making them arrogant about their sueprior tech, and so unwittingly provide the humans with an opening. Instead, as they laid it out in the trailer, I feel as if I've seen this story several times before. It now feels more like a pitch for a tv show.
So my parents are at Universal Studios, so I asked her to buy me a GLC figure, and she pulled Tomar Re =]

Just posted my dial on a more appropriate thread, and I found out that the other two had been posted, so we now have the full list (and my mom's pull was super lucky =])

Ah! Cool.
Of course, these are the same parents who were sending you messages about going to the park while you were stuck with classwork. I'd brace yourself in case this is soon followed by a camera phone image of them giving the piece away to a toddler at the park.

Good! I'll go take a look soon. When last I looked we only had 7 of the 10.
