Can't blame him for not confirming that, can you? A guy who got super-powers by an injection of mongoose blood, who runs around in a primarily yellow costume and calls himself "The Whizzer". I wouldn't put that on my resume, either.
Just thinking about it... the image that comes to mind is a guy in a yellow suit, Bob Frank, using both hands to grab his crotch as he does the pee-pee dance real fast outside the door of a packed Men's room.

Oh, yeah, Al Avison did take credit for being the artist who created the Whizzer's look. He may not of written the story, but he sure did dress the guy up in a yellow outfit.
I wonder if Avison got the idea for the costume from the characters name, or if the art came before the character was named or even created ?

Actually the Whizzer's original outfit wasn't as yellow as the costume we all know so well; it was roughly equally yellow and blue. See my customs for my 3-D rendition of it.

From what I understand, the costume he wore in his Avengers appearances was actually the wrong costume. It was actually the costume of the Blue Diamond, only recolored for the Whizzer.

No, that's not right. I know he wore his more widely-known costume (yellow longjohns, blue trunks boots and W) in the 1940s; in the two All-Winners Squad appearances at least. I'm not sure exactly when he switched.
When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.

Nah, he wore Blue Diamond's outfit in an appearance or two of the Avengers books, only it was dyed yellow. And it still had the Diamond on the chest area. I think the only other difference was that the Blue Diamond head piece was missing.

Now that would've been funny. It's not the right answer, but it is funny.

Anyways... Yes, Mary had a hummingbird DNA injection. And after reading this, I'm sure several people on the threads will be going on a hunt for hummingbirds, and then proceed to inject themselves with it's DNA. Possibly by making love to the male of the species.
The thread is yours, Norb... or to use your full Kryptonian name, Ab Norb-Al.

To be truthful the Stan Lee hint was the only thing I figured out on my own. I then went and checked it out at the Comic store. I am shamed I didn't buy it. It just didn't look that interesting. So I think I broke the rules and must turn it over to the Wylde.
