Sorry, I don't see how taking the QB who gets to throw to Breylon Edwards, Joshua Cribbs, Dante Stallworth, Kellen Winslow, and Jamal Lewis, could possibly be a bad thing.
Then again, I think Derek's a great QB, whereas everyone else is waiting for him to suck so that Brady Quinn can play.
I don't think that throwing to Joshua Cribbs is anything worth noting. He's a great return man, a below-average receiver.
Donte Stallworth just isn't good, either. As a Saints fan, he's -just- fast, and not even Reggie Bush fast either.
But Kellen Winslow, IMO, is an incredible TE and will be a top 3 tight end this year. Braylon is already in the top 5, and that won't change for awhile. And I expect Jamal Lewis to be great this year.
It's not so much that I don't think Derek is a good quarterback or won't have a good year. It's just that Peyton Manning and Drew Brees were still around, and you could have gotten Derek Anderson in the 2nd round if not the 3rd or 4th round.

Problem is, I don't really know who I'm playing with. I had no idea if I was the only one that'd see any value in him or not.
After all, he was like the #7 ranked player. Autopick would have stolen him from me, if someone didn't know who to take.

He wasn't the #7 ranked player. He was #7 on projected points maybe, but not worth. The worth list was on the right of the screen. Anderson doesn't show up till the 40's or later. You woulda been fine.
That being said, if you want a player, and you don't think he comes back to you..well then, you have to grab him.
I wound up taking Tony Romo in the first because, well, Peyton and Brady had gone early and there weren't any Running Backs left that I had ranked that highly.
Personally, I think this is going to be a horrible year for the stud-back system. I think that there are going to be a lot of teams that switch to the Running-Back-by-Committee style of offense and that a lot of the guys that we've banked on for years for points are going to wind up losing touches to back-ups and the ones who do handle most of the carries (LT and AP, for example) are going to wind up injured for a good part of the season (you heard it here first!) ...
In other words, I think that QBs and WRs are going to carry the bulk of the points this year. So, taking Derek Anderson in the first may not've been a bad decision in the long run.

I will applaud a fantasy league that allows for "Team Rushing" the way they have "Team Defense" out there.
I disagree. It's the same as using WRs that don't catch the ball all day.
I actually LIKE that RBs are starting to become less and less fantasy gold. I've always kinda felt that for all the credit and discredit that falls on a QB's shoulders, they should be the key point-makers anyways.
It also means that you can have a backup RB, and still have a viable team. Which, a few years ago, wasn't really possible.
I mean, I'm benching Dwayne Bowe right now, for Maurice Morris. I don't think RBs need any help.

You're right, I didn't think about that. But, again, #7 in projected points.....I'm still not going to take chances. Not when I think the guy could have a good year.
And, in my defense, I didn't know about the concussions. I might not have done it, with that in mind. That's what I get for not paying attention to the preseason.
I did hear that they're going to actually try shortening the preseason, and lengthening the regular season, next year. I think that'd be awesome.

I wouldn't. Don't doubt D-Bowe.

I wouldn't either. Jones is gonna be the point getter in Seattle. At least I believe so. D-Bowe and Gonzo are two pretty safe options for the weak armed Brodie Croyle.

They're still gold. 17 of the top 20 or so ranked players on yahoo, sporting news, and the 5 or 6 magazines i have are RB. The 4 exceptions: Moss, Wayne, Brady, Manning.
I'd rather have a good RB then a good WR or QB anyday.

I don't see why you beleive that. Especially considering the lack of defense that there used to be. Say 4 years ago, there were 6+ teams with Minnesota/New England type defenses, not anymore, meaning the running game is a lot more of a viable option. Especially considering that there are more factors in a succesful catch than in a succesful run.

Go look at how many teams are already running 'by committee' style systems -- Dallas, Seattle, Minnesota, Denver, etc. -- and look at whose left.
The number of teams who are running 'by committee' systems are growing, and the teams who are still in the 'stud back' systems -- NYG, Philly, St Louis, etc --are, by and large, relying on backs that have had significant time lost to injuries throughout their careers.
So, do you pick a back that's going to be sharing carries with someone else? Or, do you pick a back that's going to likely be benched due to an injury for a significant part of a season?

out of the top 35 scorers in a typical fantasy league last year, less than half were running backs. The only reason you see so many backs in the top 10 is because they will be the only running backs that will see at least 80% of their teams snaps.
