My sister is looking to go to graduate school in Baltimore this winter.. Baring the issues earlier this year is it at good place to live for a couple of years?
Have you *seen* The Wire? A lot of cities have TV shows based on/in them and people will tell you that the show only captures the worst parts of it. But with The Wire, you had elected officials saying, "Umm. Yeah, that's about right."
I mean, no...no, no. Realistically, there are some very unsafe areas, like most cities, but I would consider Baltimore worse than average in that respect.
That sounds fun She will be going to John Hopkins..

I was about to reply to your earlier question with part of why I went to Johns (learn the name ), wasn't just its' reputation / accomplishment but because it was basically "in" (technically an enveloped 'Burb) one of the best cities for my fields.
In other words, Baltimore deserves the rap it gets on TV...but I find I miss it. Something about it gets in you (besides glass in your feet or the occasional shiv on the metro...)
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

Five points in Denver or Baltimore?

Five Points Denver is fine for those wanting to learn social work. If you're asking which is the grittier? Denver's Five is the equivalent of Star City wishing it was like the 90% of Baltimore trying to emulate Gotham.

So, Thursday night Weird Al Yankovic is doing his first concert ever in Sweden. Tomorrow night I am going on the overnight train to go see him. Tonight I'll be doing laundry and packing... Exciting!

I remember dropping off a friend in 5 points in 2000-2001.. I knew everyone was looking at me and my friend pretty much told me to drop her off and speed out. Had a similar feeling at a wing place in Stapleton...

Hey, all. Sorry about the sudden pause in the Frickin Doctor Mafia Game. I had some bad reaction to my meds on Sunday night and was a wreck all day yesterday. I am feeling better now, and I plan to get back to the game by this evening. If you haven't sent in your actions, this would be a great opportunity to do so - without any penalty.
Sorry for the lack of communication. I am looking forward to getting back to the game.

Baltimore Comicon aka Avoid The Pope this weekend! Woohoo!
And I shall be there with you. His Holiness wants me to go meet Edward James Olmos and hang with my boys - and my girl, too.

Yeah, I remember those days, too. The Stapleton area is now pretty nice, and folks joke "that is where babies go" because everyone who is having a kid wants to move to Stapleton.
5 points is getting better- still not great. I bike through the area to and from work every day. Also, some good breweries in that area.

Health first man. It's inconvenient for the rest of us, but downright miserable for you. Looking forward to the game being open.

And I thought everyone who had a kid wanted to move to Highlands Ranch. And yay for Colorado, microbrew central.
