So stu, when Castro finally kicks it (if he hasnt already) we need to lobby for PC-Havana.
As much as I would love to make a joke about the Disney-sponsored animatronic double that they have ready to go operational as soon as he croaks, I think this thread has seen enough fun for one day.
Back to the topic at hand.
Frankie is seen as a problem to many people. She accelerates things in a generic way. That acceleration is so strong that many decks, such as the Kree Press engine, may be too powerful for a healthy environment. (She really hauls ### in Wild Vomit as well, pitching Mark 4s and Reconstruction Programming them back has never been so much fun.)
UDE has already informed us that they are looking into the matter, and they will make an announcement whenever they are prepared to.
Well, Rian (because I only call people by their online name when I have respect for them), I appreciate that I'm annoying you and I'm sorry for that, but I ask you kindly not to insult my parents, and I hope that as a fellow writer (although albeit we write for different sites and on different subject matter and you probably get paid more than I do), you would kindly apologize. And trust me, I only post this respectfully when I'm extremely pissed off. *sigh* now I know why I stay on VSU...
My impression was that by saying "Humphreys is going to make an announcement soon" that the announcement had already been decided and it was just time until Humphreys wrote the article and put it up on Metagame. If that's not the case, then I hope UDE is putting a lot of insight into what they're going to do so they don't have to do it again in the near future.
Back to the matter at hand: Something interesting occurred to me a couple of hours ago. In Magic, there was Squee, Goblin Nabob who got banned (I believe) in Type 2 (and I think a couple other formats as well). In YGO, there's Sinister Serpent, who got banned. Now we're having the same problem with Phantom Stranger and (to a lesser extent) Mxyzptlk. I'm not calling for the banning of Mxy, but I'm beginning to see a trend that cards that return themselves to your hand for free (or almost free) tend to get hammered pretty often, usually for good reason. I'm going to stand by my opinion that Phantom Stranger is the problem card here, not Frankie, and we have the same scenario as with Dr. Light and Rama-Tut or with Titans Go! and Harper, where one card is being so blatantly abused that people don't realize that it's the other card that's really the broken one.
I ask you kindly not to insult my parents, and I hope that as a fellow writer (although albeit we write for different sites and on different subject matter and you probably get paid more than I do), you would kindly apologize.
I am sorry if I offended you, but I will have to stand by my statements. In my opinion, your impatience is extremely shortsighted and rude. As a teacher, this kind of behavior usually reflects on the student's upbringing. If your parents had nothing to do with it, I apologize.
I still think you are way out of line calling for a rush-job on the decision. Your impressions are just that, your impressions. If this was a ship at sea, you would be causing an unneccesary panic and I do not appreciate it at all.

writer or not, you still were pretty immature and pretty deserving of reprimand.....

I agree with everything except the last satement. Rama would have had to be errata'd anyway due to hard sound construct shenanegans. And Roy is still pretty abusable given rok of eternity, PTA need for speed, etc.
Humphreys still hasn't made his comment, and it's 10 am Monday morning (EST) :'(

You should have a good long talk with Professor Ed Jernigan at University of Waterloo. You two would have much to discuss, specifically on how you like to jump to conclusions, come down hard on people who are just making offhand comments to create discussion, and just be a general nuisance. All I can say is that for the sake of your students' mental health and for the sake of your employment (if your local school board has any responsibility for the health and safety of the students in their charge), that you do not act like this in the classroom, especially if you are teaching younger children.

Oh god. Not this again. He was being impatient, we don't want to hear it, he continues, we reprimand him, you defend him. Same old story, different setting.
Don't feel too annoyed BackAgain. It's a Monday. People are pissed off that their weekend is over and that work needs to be done again. Hence the explosions from various people in this thread.
Not that...you know...other people don't have work. Some of us are just so busy that we can't respond to over-anxious vs players wanting to see a banned list update already. *goes back to screenwriting step-outlines*
Actually I'm at work right now while I'm writing this, and saying "it's a Monday" is really about as good of an excuse for what seems to be going on in this thread as saying "They were making fun of me :'(" for the Columbine shootings, imo.

I don't remember Squee ever being banned, but I could be wrong. I don't know anything about the mechanics of YGO, but I can say that Squee was a much more powerful card in Magic than Mxy is in Vs. First of all, even though Squee is a legendary creature, you could have multiples of him coming back to your hand every turn. Discard in Magic is significantly more of a drawback because you are only drawing one card per turn. Having one or more cards come back to your hand every turn is like drawing that many extra cards per turn...especially when your deck revolves around incredibly powerful effects like Masticore or Solitary Confinement that require a discard every turn.
There has already been a few discussions on here about how much less important drawing extra cards is in Vs as having the correct cards. You generally always have and extra card or two to discard in Vs. and the abilty to draw two cards a turn makes discarding a much less viable mechanic. Magic almost always has a competitive deck that is based mostly on forcing your opponent to discard cards...the only viable one we've seen in Vs is one that could strip the hand so completely as to force a missed resource drop. Other than that, discard in this game isn't that huge of a drawback which in my mind makes repeated card recursion much less of a asset.
Not that it isn't still good. I just think that fact that their power isn't team-stamped is much more problematic than the fact that they come back to your hand.
Let's not...to be perfectly honest, I'm getting fed up with coming to "The Premier Vs. System Community" only to find that the so-called "pro" or "high-level" players that make it so are generally high-strung, self-important jackasses with no social grace, and somehow almost every single discussion winds up becoming a flame war because some idiot thinks they're better than someone else (regardless of whether or not they are in terms of gameplay, experience, or something else play-related, because that's all that really matters on a gaming forum). If you don't want to be a constructive member of the community, don't be a member of the community at all.
@Locke: You make some good points. However, free card advantage, be it 1/2 of a draw or 1 full draw, or whatever, is still pretty powerful, regardless of the game played. I will agree that teamstamping Phantom and/or Mxy would make them much more balanced, but as-is I think Phantom is the problem (plus UDE won't eratta either of those cards to put a teamstamp on them)
