Drat I had 3 V songs and everything typed up and then I close the window before hitting send...
I don't know why by apparently my favorite bands have V songs. Or I decided to wait until now to share a song of theirs because I think that they are bands worth listening to , but I am biased.
Vortex - Megadeth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68mi5_jvhCc
Hard to believe this album is 20 years old. This was just a classic sounding thrashy Megadeth song back when Dave Mustaine would actually sing.
I like Megadeth, but this song is just "ok" to me. Overall, I was never a big fan of this album.

They are the best power metal band out there without being too cheesy. I appreciate their awesome music but what I enjoy more are the lyrics. The lyrics are well crafted and they don't rhyme all the time like some bands feel like they NEED to do. Additionally Blind Guardian's music has many literary songs, which I am sure Norym would appreciate.
I've often wondered if they could see, how good could they be. The music is pretty good.

Beardfish is such an awesome band. I needed to include the intro to this song because it makes adds extra depth to the listening experience. The album this is off of is such a dark and raw album and I love it. This is the gateway song I introduce to people who I think may enjoy Beardfish. This is their best song that has a great hard rock/metal feel but ultimately they are a prog band.
I am sure I can come up with more but these 3 are the most important to me.
I like this song the best of the 3. I think I'll look into more Beardfish.
Dethlehem
They are a mix of Dethklok and Gwar for D&D people. The video is NSFW but worth 8 minutes of your time (Actual song is 5 minutes) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uyRWTxEkJY
Wagakkiband
Imagine a metal band formed in Japan with character personas (Drummer looks like Cloud from FF VII btw) and the addition of traditional instruments. I have never seen anyone just rock out on a samisen. The bassist's bass has a lit up fretboard. They are thoroughly enjoyable even though I have no idea what they are saying. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ponTbDDMYjw
Cause and effect, can't ya smell the smoke in the breeze?
My panther, my brother, we are at war until you're free
You'll never silence the voice of the voiceless
Anyone ever hide stuff in posts by making it white text?
Who will find this?
Anyone ever hide stuff in their pants by making it white text?

I did!!!
We used to do that all the time here. Maybe not as often as changing the text of what someone had written previously, but it was a pretty common thing. Nowadays...hardly at all.
Winter: Tori Amos oh man, another powerful memory tune...gonna be thinking about the woman who played this album for me first time for awhile tonight. Old time LPCers may recall her story...died much too young.
Would I Lie to You: Eurythmics I'm sure it's familiar to everyone on here, but damn, I still love this song. And their stuff in general.
Wicked Game: Chris Isaak
I liked the HIM version much later too, this was pretty much a totally new sound out of nowhere in the alt rock/adult rock radio scene back in the day.
Wasted Years - Anneke Van Giersbergen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQTTie903u4
Even though this is a cover the way it is sung makes it sound so different compared to the original. Plus Anneke is smiling the whole time through the song, I love live performances where the performers seems to be having so much enjoyment playing their music. Maybe she is just smiling because she thinks AQ is cute or something.
Walk of Life - Dire Straits https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd9TlGDZGkI
Mark Knopfler is a very talented guitarist considering he focuses on finger styling and doesn't use a pick. This is just one of those rock songs that reminds me of my child hood because this song and Lay it On the Line always seemed to be on the radio when I was doing something fun or interesting.
Watching it All Disappear - Communic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0gPC0UCAYY
Power metal trio band from Scandinavia (Norway?). Truthfully I forgot to post their favorite songs with their respective letter so I am left with this awesome song. Though not in my top 5 but definitely in top 10. Back in the day you could type in a name of a band in ebay and sellers would list artists similar to that band. I typed in Nevermore on ebay and Communic kept on showing up. After finding a way to listen to their music I was hooked and snatched up their discography.
Wolf and Raven - Sonata Arctica https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPHqfYfHx7s
Straight from Finland is Sonata Arctica. OK They have 2 awesome songs but the rest is forgettable. This is one of the awesome songs.
The lead singer of Sonata Arctica, Tony Kakko sings the pokemon theme song for the band Powerglove, if you want something silly to listen to... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A68KIhCaWcM
I guess I might as well include a Swedish band among the other Scandinavians...
Pick you poison with Opeth
When (live) - Opeth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZWRVLitsXA
This song has everything cool riffs, interludes, and musical themes and a mix of growls (first half) and clean vocals (second half) . This is much better than the studio version.
Windowpane (live) - (Opeth) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LMxLIcRWy8
Opeth is such a progressive melodic death metal band that they decided to put out an "acoustic" album (clean guitars with no distortion) with clean vocals called Damnation. I know I have added an Opeth song previous to these and lauded their drummer MArtin Lopez. This album was his crowing achievement. Why? Cause it's Opeth's jazziest album drum-wise and Martin nails the drumming. There have been other drummers in the band since his departure and they just can't play any songs off the album like he could in concert. They are too heavy handed and forceful on the cymbals. This is the only professional video with Martin Lopez drumming for Opeth.
BTW Damnation was my gateway into Opeth.

Oh, I forgot about the customers that just come up and stare at you until you ask them what they need. Hadn't had one in a while, had one today though. Is "excuse me" really that difficult?

Pre-covid I would be someplace looking at/for something on a shelf and people would just stand there looking at me instead of saying excuse me to get me to move so they could walk by.

Had a late birthday dinner for the wife at the best restaurant within abut 80 miles in any direction. Had my parents and her parents join us, got a babysitter to cover the kids, and had a great night our. Those of you on my Facebook know where this is headed, but this funny, very loud couple, roughly late 40s so same general range as us, were at the table directly across from ours. First they sent us a bottle of wine and a round of drinks for the non wine drinkers, and we all shared a toast, thanked them, etc. They were very much a roughneck looking couple compared to the clientele at the restaurant. We talked to them a little, but they were drunk and loud and having their own great time, and thanked them again when they left before us.
Which brings us to the payoff. The owner and our server come out and tell us that the couple sitting by us were paying for everything we'd ordered! It was around $300. Owner said they were very wealthy, had come into a significant amount of money and just did stuff like that when they liked somebody. We were flabbergasted. The serving staff got double tipped majorly (they'd also paid tip but we weren't okay with not at least paying tip!) and we ended up buying some desserts after all but 2 of us getting pretty tipsy. Good thing I didn't drive.
Anyway, it was pretty amazing. Kinda wonder what their story is...
The same restaurant had a couple fly in with their private helicopter and walk in through the bar entrance. It was an interesting evening!
Not bad. I was never a big fan of the Butthole Surfers, but I do generally enjoy their songs when I hear them. They tend to all sound the same to me, though.

I feel like this is a song that DestructoBoy put in Rock Wars. She has a pretty voice, but I'm just not a fan of her songs.

If you hadn't posted this, then I probably would have. Great song. No lies.

That flubbing at the beginning was getting lengthy. She is very charming. I'd like to hear other songs by her. Not a big fan of this cover, though. She should do this with a Judas Priest song, as they've covered a few acoustic songs and turned them into heavy metal.

This was pretty cool. Maybe I should check out Damnation.
