wanted to pop in and announce my return to the game :D
glad to see this thread is still up and kickin. also glad to see the newer ppl as well as some old faces (Hi HDI!!). gonna take me a while to caught up to speed in this novel of a thread but i at least wanted to drop out a few initial thoughts of tactics and combos to stirr things up. apologies in advance if they have already been mentioned.
so i picked up some of the new sets (been outa the game since 07') and started to reflect on these new cards and how they could enhance my old school catalog. heres a few....
goblin king + one for one+ infernal reckless summon
this was actually my first test since when i left i was experimenting with gk and IRS and i still had most of the deck put together. all i can say is wow! works out well as uber stall or uber swarm especially since you would still have a normal summon to throw another fiend out there and sport 3 goblin kings at 3k atk a piece! GKOTK FTW!
book of eclipse+ bysershock
now i'm not sure on the timing (been a long time) but the thought of chaining BoE to a splattered tomato (chain at damage step?) would be a heck of a turn around in your favor when getting pressed by high swarm like blackwing.
yubel + beserk dragon
since it seems zombies are recruiting from our fiendish ranks it only seems appropriate to take some of thiers. a deal with dark ruler would play nicely at any point as yubel upgrades to its higher forms. not to mention give a yubel themed deck a much needed agression.
lol actually a deck i'm working on wich seems to play nicely in todays meta. 3 of each along with a couple avarice, IRS, resurrection cards and some stall and you got one heck of a slowing paced nightmare for the speedy swarms of blackwing and lightsworn. oh and creature swap is the bee's knees with this set up ;D
ok well i'm off to see my beloved archfiend thread. i missed it very much and i'm sure it could use some tlc. especially with 2 new synchros to add to its arsenal!
2.) Actually a fun combo in my Fiend Deck. Its attack "lock" isn't nearly as useful as it used to be, but 3 3000 ATK monsters afterward is fun. Also having a Deck Devastation Virus AND Epidemic Eradicator Virus target (EEV first of course) is nice.
3.) Sadly, you can't use Book during the Damage Step. You COULD use it alongside stuff like Limit Reverse.
4.) Yeah, Yubel and Berserk Dragon were mentioned somewhere before. Unfortunately, Yubel being one of the only things (that people would use) that would set off A Deal with Dark Ruler, so it hasn't really taken off. Plus the need for Berserk Dragon and A Deal with Dark Ruler themselves in the Deck too.
ah, yeah the rust is showing on the byser timing XD
i've been doing some yubel thinking now that i have the 1st 2 incarnations. while i'm loving the control yubel potentially posses, he lacks agression. i was thinking like a single copy of beserk with maybe some stall burn and go with lava golemn and a tomato engine. maybe exploit the 0 atk/def angle a bit and test out squirmer, newdoria and byser for flavor.
i'm sure the 1st few tests will come out janky as all get out but i think the idea is solid enough to warrant some effort to try refining the idea and see if its plausable.
Yeah, Yubel seems to be mostly a popularity-based card more than anything...given that aside from stuff that just so happens to work with it, it doesn't really have anything for itself besides its 3 forms.
Spells (11):
3xSoul Exchange
1xBrain Control
2xAllure of Darkness
1xHeavy Storm
1xGiant Trunade
1xMonster Reborn
1xSmashing Ground
1xBook of Moon
Traps:
1xCrush Card Virus
1xDeck Devastation Virus
1xMirror Force
1xTorrential Tribute
2xBottemless Trao Hole
1xEscape from the Dark Dimension
1xReturn from Different Dimension
You can severely lock down the fast decks if you can get Vanity out quick enough. Also, 12 Tributes can seem high, but usually I have no problem getting them out.
You'd probably get more/better replies by putting this in the Deck Depot where such things should be.
Personally...
1.) The Substitoads and Treeborn Frog are unnecessary. (Only monster you can get with the effect of Substitoad in this Deck is Treeborn Frog itself. Thus the effect would become dead quickly and Frog itself is slow these days.)
2.) The Giant Germs and Newdoria probably won't die in battle given how the game tends to go. (Destroyed by effects A LOT more often.)
3.) The Soul Exchanges make it too slow.
4.) You don't need Mirror Force or Torrential Tribute given people tend to get rid of m/t before anything else. Probably should switch out for Divine Wrath(s), Solemn Judgment(s), or other things.
Damn, seeing this fiend strategie thread just is just bringing memories about the old time when I used to kick some asses with my fiend deck. U actually just puted me in the mood to take my necrofear deck out of the box and tune it up.
Well, 2 Synchros that should be more-or-less directly meant for Fiends;
TSHD-JP041
Daemon Chaos King (Synchro)
Dark/Fiend/7/2600/2600
1 Fiend-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Monsters
When this card attacks, you can switch the ATK and DEF strength of all face-up monsters your opponent controls until the end of the Battle Phase.
Ultra/Ultimate Rare
...too bad this won't be seen for a few more months.
WC10-JP003
Hell Twin Cop (Synchro)
Dark/Fiend/5/2200/1800
1 Fiend-Type Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Monsters
When this card destroys a monster as a result of battle, increase its ATK strength by 800 points until the end of the Battle Phase, and it can attack once again in a row.
...both being simple and easy-to-understand effects:
Daemon/"Archfiend" Chaos King basically acting as a one-sided Shield & Sword on your opponent until the end of the Battle Phase when it attacks. Very nice when you consider the fact that around 98% of monsters used in Decks are usually high ATK/low DEF, so you can strike first with Daemon Chaos King and swap the ATK and DEF of those monsters and make them into low ATK/high DEF and thus possibly much easier targets for some of your smaller monsters. Level 7 also being extremely easy to Synchro Summon with good stats of 2600/2600. (Thus, if your opponent has one, it would remain unaffected by the effect of your's.)
Hell Twin Cop (Jaw and Kick) being your typical Soldier-based, potential double-attacking effect. First attack being at 2200 (or, when Flare Resonator is out, 2500), but the 2nd attack being 800 ATK more, so 3000 (3300) for the 2nd attack right after. Unfortuntely, as done with previous monsters with such effects, I would assume that, no, it CANNOT attack, destroy something, then attack again with 800, destroy something, then attack yet again with 800 more ATK, and repeating until you hit your opponent directly. Being Level 5 may make it a tiny bit trickier to Synchro Summon, but not too much considering most Fiend-Type Tuners are Level 3 or lower as it is.
List of Fiend-Type Tuners (both OCG and TCG):
Dark Sprocketer/"Sinister Sprocket" (Level 1)
Dark Resonator (Level 3)
Dark Repairer/"Tinker" (Level 2)
Trap Eater (Level 4)
Messenger of the Underworld/"Emissary from Pandemonium" (Level 7, but can Tribute Summon it with 1 Tribute to make it Level 5 to use with Daemon Chaos King)
Infernity Revenger (TSHD, Level 1. Possibly more if you happen to use an Infernity Deck so it can use its effect)
Demon Roar God - Raven (LE13, Level 2. More with effect)
Demon Roar God - Kushano (DT04, Level 3)
Demon Roar God - Mihztorji (DT05, Level 2)
Demon Roar God - Oltoro (DT06, Level 2)
...or ANY Tuner Monster + DNA Surgery into Fiend, lol.
ABPF-JP023
Supay (Tuner)
Earth/Fiend/1/300/100
When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard by a card effect, you can Special Summon 1 "Priest of the Sun" from your Deck. Its ATK strength is doubled and it is returned to the owner's hand during the End Phase.
TSHD-JP010
Flare Resonator (Tuner)
Fire/Fiend/3/300/1300
If this card is sent to the Graveyard for the Synchro Summon of a Synchro Monster, increase the ATK strength of that Synchro Monster by 300 points.
TSHD-JP015
Infernity Revenger (Tuner)
Dark/Fiend/1/0/0
If this card is in the Graveyard, when a monster you control, except "Infernity Revenger", is destroyed as a result of battle while you have no cards in your hand, you can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard. When this card is Special Summoned in this way, its Level becomes the Level of the destroyed monster.
Rare
LE13-JP003
Demon Roar God - Raven (Tuner)
Light/Fiend/2/1300/1000
By discarding any number of cards from your hand, increase the Level of this card equal to the number of discarded cards. Also, increase the ATK strength of this card by the number of cards discarded in this way x 400 points. This effect can only be used once per turn.
DT04-JP014
Demon Roar God - Kushano (Tuner)
Light/Fiend/3/1100/800
Activate by discarding 1 "Demon Roar God" monster except "Demon Roar God - Kushano" from your hand. Add this card from your Graveyard to your hand.
Rare
DT05-JP012
Demon Roar God - Mihztorji (Tuner)
Light/Fiend/2/400/200
Send this card from your hand to the Graveyard and select 1 face-up "Demon Roar God" monster you control. The selected monster is treated as a Tuner Monster while it is face-up on the field.
DT06-JP016
Demon Roar God - Oltoro (Tuner)
Light/Fiend/2/800/500
Once per turn, by sending 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard, Special Summon 1 Level 3 "Demon Roar God" monster from your hand.
I gotta admit I still haven't gotten around to building something to apply Hundred Eyes Dragon. Im seeing the best options right now for Tuners being:
Plaguespreader
Gale
Junk Synchron
Krebons
That's a bit sacreligious, when there's Resonator, Trap Eater, Tinker, & Sprocket to use for Dark Tuners, but the Fiend ones are still a bit outclassed by some of the tricks and speed achieved by the first 4 I mentioned.
HDI, if you've been messing with HED I'd love to hear about some real hand's on experience with it.
