I'm guessng Bud-Man, but still have no idea of the reason.
Cause they thought he was a beer drinker and could get them beer. But, in fact, he was into a different kinda bud, a bud made famous by Cheech and Chong. And so, he turned them down, as he didn't want to be busted for buying beer for the underaged crowd.
If no one gets it right in the next two hours, I'll give it to the person who got the right name but not the right reason.
Was it Lone Wolf, who did change his name to Timber Wolf. And he turned them down at first because it wasn't his mind in his body, but the mind of someone else. And then he was dead for awhile there, so that'd be something to hinder his ability to become a member of any team, outside of the "Black Lantern" group.
OK, I'm a little confused as to whom to give it to. Wyld was the first to correctly identify Lone Wolf, later known as Timber Wolf. JTR didn't have the circumstances exactly right, but it was a mistaken identity problem. While his mind wasn't in another's body, at the time Lone Wolf had been hypnotized by his late father's android servant into believing that he was the android, and he felt he had no place among living beings.
I'll let Wyld and JTR arrange a steel cage match to settle who gets the thread.
We'll sell you the whole seat, but you'll only need the edge.
I'll give the thread to JTR, on the condition that he doesn't ask a Tangent question.

When our story opens, the Question is investigating an impossible locked-room murder mystery involving a midget and a 6'6"-tall call girl into heavy bondage. Don't worry, I'll explain later. It's all vitally relevant.
--Alan Moore, Twilight
Very well, and I will fulfill my campaign promise of not asking a Tangent question.
Karate Kid and Timber Wolf are notable in that they both had solo series apart from their LSH runs. Also, both traveled to the 20th/21st century in their books, and had their adventures there. Then. Whatever.
KK and T-Wolf were not related, but they were close. What legal relationship did T-Wolf have with Karate Kid? The emphasis in this question is "legal," and as a hint: this relationship did not become evident until after KK's death on Orando.
--I loved that story.

Thanks for that. I never read the Tangent books. They came out in the late 90s; and at that time, if I wanted to read about characters that bore no resemblance whatsoever to the heroes I knew and loved other than their names, I had Morrison's JLA.
