Not necessarily. I think Will Smith's character was supposed to be a big city marshal from back East. He'd certainly qualify as sharp dressed and cocky. Just thinking of TV remakes with young people packing heat, other options are Mod Squad or (and these are a stretch) I Spy or Agent Cooper from Twin Peaks.
