One of my best friends has a PHD in Medevil studies, It drives me NUTS watching any form of History movie with him. He will flat out hate it before we even start and ##### about it the entire time forgetting it is about the entertainment factor not education! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

He's probably just upset that he's spending his free time with you.

Eh, I'm definitely not as invested in it as I was. Most of that is due to a complete and utter distaste with American politics at this point.

#OccupyMyPants is as political as I like to get.

Ditto "too cool for school" folk who complain about movies regardless of the nature of said movies.

One example that stands out is this guy who hated Freddy vs. Jason for being, quote, "Really stupid."

To which I said, "You paid to see Freddy vs. Jason. Did you expect Kurosawa-esque brilliance?"

Human Centipede and it's sequel are true works of cinematic brilliance.

I don't know that I've ever posted in there.

I listen to NPR and I listen to an AM station for about equal amounts of time. Sometimes I'm tempted to call in. Then I think about the way people sound when they call in.

I think there's a bunch of psychological baggage that goes along with the kind of person who would call in. And I believe that psychological baggage negates that person's point of view as "nutty" thereby.

I think it's kinda the same way in the Politics forum.

If you think you're going to get your point across effectively or change someone else's point of view, you're probably wrong given the facts in evidence.

Like the bumper sticker thing, I hope that didn't come across as insulting.

Haven: what's bugging me is the lack of dialogue. I particularly hate political discussion that amounts to lining up with your "side" and fighting the other "side."

Yep, this. I call that Bud Bowl politics, and it is absolutely obnoxious.

As for politics in general, I recently broke up an argument between two in-laws, both as staunchly team-oriented as possible. One was saying Obama winning is a "slam dunk," and the other said that a Rep winning was a sure thing.

I said "You know who wins no matter what? Big business. End of story."

Just so sick of the bull!@#$.

I just assume the people that are HARDCORE into politics are the people that just like to argue till they are light heated, it just gives them something Semi important and feel good about arguing for.
